I have a 10 gallon tank with 10 fish in it(8 tetras, small betta, and small pleco). The water where I live is very hard. I treat my water with chemicals to make the water safe for my fish that were recommended by the professionals at the pet store. I tested the PH and it was about 7.6 I put PH down liquid in it and followed the directions down to the last letter. I waited 24 hours after putting the PH down in my tank and it was still around 7.6. I called the pet store and asked what I should do( they said treat the water again) I treated the water again and there is still no results. Does anyone have any idea what I should do now?

ive been into fish keeping for over a year now, have had various species from angels/african cichlids/silver sharks/plecos/tiger barbs/silver dollar/discus/parrot cichlids(who are very intelligent and funny)etc. etc. but none of these has got my attention like the oscar..

i actually treat this fish like a proper pet(i.e dog) i have just about seen all tropical fish now and the oscar is a league of his own imo..

what makes these fish so special cause at first i thought they looked like nothing special but now there are my favourite without question??

i have this crab , the only time i ever see the little guy is when i do maintenance on the filter for my aquarium because he has taken up residence in there, no matter how many times i put him in the aquarium he still goes in there, i have plenty of rocks with little nooks to hide in so i dont know why he chooses the filter, im afraid he will starve to death because he NEVER comes out. ive never seen him eat a pellet even once. so what can i do? theres now way to block the filter because of how it operatres, he get up to the edge of the tank and works his way around to the spillout part of the filter and in he goes. what could i do to encourage him to live in the damnd fish tank like a normal crab rather then in the filter box?

So I've had my 29 gallon up and running since Friday. I am in no hurry to add fish, haha, paydays not till this Friday! I have heard countless times that I should do a fishless cycle, how benificial it is, etc. I really do not want to add pure ammonia to my tank to develop the bacteria. I just dont feel comfortable with it. Can't I just add a scoop of gravel from my 10 gallon which has been set up for nearly 4 years? I hae added stress zyme, which is supposed to help add benificial bacteria. I also want to add 2 of my zebra danios from my 10 to the 29, in order to start the cycling process. Is this a good idea? Answerers, please take care to answer all parts of my question, recently only specific parts have been answered!

I've had this betta for a little over 5 weeks now. He's healthy, builds bubble nests, loves to eat, all that good betta stuff. Although I've noticed that he's been jumping out of the water lately. (He's in a covered 3 gallon tank.) I was just wondering if this is normal behavior.

My Betta looks and seems to be acting normal, but I've noticed that his stomach is very very very big. I think it's because he can't sh*t, but if he couldn't, I think he would be dead already. So what's wrong with my betta? What should I do? He's a male.

We have a fish tank with 5 fish in it (1 pakosomis, 1 angel, 1 cat fish, 1 shark, and 1 white fish (that is shaped like a gold fish)
well, the white one is PSYCHO and keeps killing all our other fish! It killed about 10 so far! It took out 2 puffers, one of our angel fishes, (a few random fish) .. and now our shark!
So now, we have 4 fish! We can't get to the white fish to get him out of our tank .. what do we do?? I am sick of him being an undertaker!
We have a non-agressive tank .. and the pet store said he was a non-agressive fish! we went back and told them what was going on and they said it's not normal behavior from that kind of fish!
We can't get him out of the tank .. is there anything we can do to prevent him from killing our other fish?????

I've been keeping aquariums since I was a wee lad but I never got the drive to take live plants for a spin...I've done very little research to this point...I know they need a light that mimics real sunlight opr sunlight itself...but thats about it. The part that terrifies me the most is...how in gods name do you clean the gravel when you have live pants growing in it? I'm very used to my cleaning routine of removing everything from the tank (just the decorations), cleaning, and putting it all back in. What else do I need to know? What are some of the pros and cons of live plants? Will they help or hurt breeding (chiclids)? Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)

i bought two silver tipped sharks (columbian catfish) a few months ago and they are the most annoying fish ive ever owned, they constanly swim rapidly along the front of the aquarium in very random paths, just start off one way then switch direction and go another then back again, they N E V E R stop . all my other fish swim around nice and peacefull within there little environment but these guys seemed obsessed with trying to swim through the glass. why do they exibit this behaviour and will they "grow out of it" as they mature. it may seem odd that im so annoyed by them but they pretty much ruin the calm of the aquarium with there distrating and constant movements.
