these guys i guess havent seen a crawdad before, those big claws they have are good for only a couple things fighting off other crawdads or pinching people, and they also help catch fish, but if you look a little closer they have smaller claws too more underneath them, these claws are what they yse to search the ground for food, so you can put a rubber band around the claws if you want.

Yea, that won't harm him, the trouble is getting the rubber band on the crawfish lol.

No need to put a rubberband around their claws.
What you can do, is break off the part of the claw that would be your thumb. this way, they still look like they have claws and YES, they can still eat.
