In the wild you can use bugs to feed fish but I would not feed them to domestic fish. The bugs you catch may have contamanates, like pesticides or may be carring fertilizer that may even kill your fish. I have know house flies to fall into my fish tank water, and they do eat them up...

Fireflies land on the waters all the time especially in North America. Fish naturally know what they can and cannot eat. They are not toxic to fish....however most fish will not eat fire flies.

Perhaps people should go past the first hit on google to realize fireflies are not toxic to fish before they answer.

Many fish eat fireflies and their Bacterial luminescence is non toxic to fish. To those certain fish they are toxic to the fish won't eat them anyway.

Dont feed your fish anything you catch out side. People spray their lawn with toxins. The bugs will pick up the toxins and contaminate the water. If the fish eat them it could be deadly.

Flies are fine but fireflies are very bad, My kids put one in my 36 gallon tank and it killed my female platie. I had no clue and it had been a mystery until I read the article from Copperhead.

NO!!!!! The chemical that causes them to glow is toxic. See this link: http://www.anapsid.org/fireflies.html (written for reptiles, it's estimated that 1/10 of a firefly can kill a lizard!)
