How "small" is it? If this is fairly good size, it might be a fish louse. If smaller like a pimple, it may be the start of ich. There's also a viral condition called lymphocystis. See this website for photos of these, as well as some treatment information: http://www.fishpalace.org/Disease.html
and more on treatment: http://www.fish-disease.net/diseases.htm

Also, are you certain she hasn't rubbed up against something in the tank and loosened a scale?

You should never touch your fish, unless you have to. It removes the slime coating.
With out a pic its hared to diagnose.
Try looking at these sites.

From the update, I think it is a fungus. I have had great luck with these meds, Maracyn, PimaFix.

Who ever has been going around and giving me thumbs down you need to educate yourself. The information I gave is correct.

If it's fuzzy, it's likely fungus. Look for fungal medications.

It's a female? It might be having babies. Guppies don't need male guppies to have babies. I may not be right. I'm guessing. But guppies are always having babies.
