I would like to know if I can use craft store plastic only (no metal wires or other material on/in them) is ok for a tank. The ones at the pet store are limited and expensive, small too. I have some beautiful all plastic plants that I'd like to use in my tank but would like to know the details of if it would harm the tank. I'm sure there 'might' be a different plastic chemical makeup for them than aquarium ones, but could I? I have a large tank (150 gal bow front). I have silk plants I've used for years by light bleach washing to rejuventate them (process does not remove color!!!) and a mix of live, but I need some tall fillers. Anyone tried this before? I am thinking of getting a 10-20 gallon fish tank and I think that I'm going to get exotic fish in it instead of just the plain old goldfish. I was thinking some fish along the line of Oscars and Gouramis but it seems like every time I get a gourami it just dies. I needs to know a combination of fish that you like or think I should get! and any information about caring for the fish would be helpful!! Thanx!!!

I read it's only 3 seconds but then I heard it was actually 3 months. Anyone know what it really is?

I have this red coating, or slime covering everything. The guy at the store gave me something to put in the water, this only backed it down for about two weeks and its right back.

I've lost an emerald crab, a cleaner shrimp, and my goby since this stuff come.

I have had the tank for over a year and never seen anything like this, my biggest worry has been this green hair-like moss cropping up on the glass seemingly as fast as you clean it off.

I do a 1/3 tank water change, with RO water every 3 months.

I even went as far....and don’t yell at me....as to pull every piece of live rock out of the tank and scrub it with a brush trying to get this to stop.

I'm worried that it's not eating. I have meaty and waffer (veggie) food. I've tried placing the food in the middle of the star only for it to stay a little while then the star pushes it out and I find the food on the bottom of the tank.Is this normal or should I not worry and it will eat when it's ready.I have other fishes and live and dead rock.my tank was just cleaned about two weeks ago and I have a shrimp, hermits and snails. The tank temp stay around 79 degrees.

My brother in law left me in charge of the house and the fish-maybe a 30 gal tank. He's got a huge coy-maybe 5 lb. And I dont know what this other one is-looks like a gigantic beta but its not. Then he got a baby coy?about 2" before he left. Now the baby coy and (huge beta) are lifeless on the bottom of the tank. Nothing changed while he was gone except do you think that if the room was too cold, the water got cold and killed them?I dont know if they're dead but if I cant revive them, I'm done for.Help Help.

I'm looking in to getting a ten gallon fish tank. I'm a beginner, and I know that guppies and tetras are good for beginners. How would a few african dwarf frogs do in a tank with guppies and tetras? Are there any larger few that could go in a ten gallon tank without it being too cramped or dirty?

My oldest little boy is now 4yrs. I bought him a gold fish when he was 7 mos. old. The fish has got huge! I'm really worried b'cause his scales are sticking out on the sides and its reddish in color where they are sticking out. He looks like he is going to explode. I'm worried he has a disease and it will spread to the other fish.

Ok I have heard a lot of people say that a little bit of salt goes a long way when you have mollies...1tsp or so, to about 5 gallon tank. But what I haven't heard is, Will this affect the other fish??
I have 5 tiger barbs and 3 mollies, I am still going to get a pleco.

My question is, will this little bit of salt hurt, help or not affect the other fish in the tank??

I guess they are from the gravel, they appeared 1 or 2 at first and I removed them, now there are hundreds of them and I don't know how to remove them without having to get rid of the gravel and recycle the tank again. It houses my 4 African Dwarf Frogs and 1 Pearl Gourami, she is still very small.

I have two 55 gallon tanks but the inhabitants in these tanks will no doubt kill and possibly eat the frogs and pearl.

I have considered removing them to a 3 gallon bucket with air stone and heat, then over salting or chlorine bleaching the tank.

Anyone know of a simpler and/or safer way?

Thanks in advance!

I was wondering if guppies could survive on eating a vast variety of homefood. Such as bread, shrimp, crab, egg, or w/e is appropriate (These foods I'm not sure about, just guessing XD). If they can, could anyone tell me what kinds of food they would be able to eat? Thanks everyone.
