My fry are still in a breeding net. I want to move all my guppys out of the tank into a bigger tank and have that tank just for fry but when do i HAVE to do it. How long can they stay in there.

you should move them into their own tank immediately...they will have more room to swim. they will get stronger and grow faster. breeding nets are often really tiny and doesnt allow them to do much....ive found out that no gravel in with the babies is best...its harder to measure how much food they will eat and the filter can get it up easier without gravel.

The sooner you move them to their own tank the better. The mortality rate will go down and the growth of the fry will not be stunted. Further, by removing the fry, other fish that would make a meal of them will not be tempted to attack or try to bite the fry when they are larger.

I kept about 20 fry in a 3gal with a java fern for about 2-3 weeks, feeding them high protein live foods to boost their growth, before putting them in a larger 10gal tank.

The reason most breeders like to keep their fry in smaller tanks (not as small as mine, of course, but I didn't have too many resources) for the first few weeks is because it's easier for them to find food as opposed to food being lost and uneaten in a larger tank.

Once they're at the age where they know where to find the food and are actively swimming by the top when your hand hovers over the tank, you should move them to a larger tank (at least 10gal).

Congrats on the new members to your tank.

In regards to your question they can stay in the breeding net for as long as you wish, however i recommend moving them asap.
Firstly because it may stunt there growth if its a small net.
Secondly fry love to jump (i have lost countless fry this way) and as they get stronger they will begin to jump out of the net into your tank.
Thirdly it is easier to control conditions in a specialised fry tank.
Hope this helps.

If you have your own tank just for fry, you can move them anytime, as long as there are not any big fish in there.
I usually move my fry out of the breeder when they are about 14days old, but I move them in my regular tank.
Good luck
Hope that helped
