I had the fish tank and the filter and a rock. So i put it all together and went to buy some fish. Two small gold fish and two small weird black ones with big heads. So i put the fish. My filter is like a waterfall, the water falls down in the tank and bubbles are made, did i put the filter right? Also the lady in walmart she saw me with the fish and i ask her what food i should buy and when i should feed them, and she said to buy the "Wardley Essentials Goldfish Flakes" and she said to feed them two times a day. Did she gave me the right info? How often should i feed them and what if she was wrong. Where can i buy rocks and sand for the fish, i want to decorated. If there something else i should know please tell me, if you know of a site for newbies with fish please posted thanks.

Soudns like you actually have 4 goldfish, 2 regular one's and 2 called Black moors. Yes, the food she suggested is fine for them and feeding twice a day is great. Feed them only as much as they will eat in 3-4 minutes per feeding.

Here's a link to a great site with tons of info perfect for people new to fish keeping.

Hope that helps and welcome to the hobby.

Well, you probably should have researched before you even set up the tank, but since you have it up, you need a few chemicals to keep it clean. I recommend AquaSafe from Tetra (makes the water safe for the fish), Stress Coat (protects fish from injuries and enhances their natural slime coating) and Stress Zyme from API (introduces beneficial cleansing bacteria into the tank to begin the bacterial cycle to keep the tank clean) and, just to keep handy, some water clarifier. Put the Stress Zyme in once a week and rinse the filter cartridge once a week. When you change the water, put all but the clarifier in (your tank is new, so change the water weekly for a couple of months, then you only need to change it monthly). Feed the fish two or three times a day (make sure the meals are small if its 3-a-day). And yes, you installed the filter right.

I suggest buying a good aquarium care book. I recommend Aquariums for Dummies. It will give you all of the basic information you need - including a very handy list of fish diseases, symptoms, and treatments. Good luck!

You can get a basic aquarium care book at that same Walmart. Be careful not to overfeed your goldfish. They do best a little hungry and they are also messy.

You will probably need some support fish like corydoras to eat the food the goldfish miss and an algae eater if your tank starts growing algae.

Good luck - its a great hobby!

Do not get sand for Goldfish! They will attempt to eat food on the bottom, take in sand, and then spit it out. The sand will likely get caught in the filter and damage it! Why didn't you get the tank set up before you got your fish? Why didn't you do any research. For your gravel and decorations, make sure you wash them first or it will make the water all cloudy and gross.

sounds like you are doing okay, however what size is your tank? make sure you get a water test kit, very helpful, in knowing what's going on with your water. you would want to test for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.

also your goldfish will grow large and eventually will need adequate housing if you have not already provided that for them.

oh cycling your tank is also very important.

yo want an exterior filter out taht is going to coach over approximately 800L an hour. relies upon on what proportion fish you're desirous to put in there. in case you desire to load it up decide for the better filter out ( i admire canister filters, Fluval, Aqua One) your thermometer would desire to be 2 hundred-300w. Cichlids are particuarly messy so save your filter out effectual. bypass to the aquarium %. on your want and ask as a lot data as you may. a great aquarium place that has good wisdom is properly worth there weight in gold
