Bettas in bowls tend to be inactive - they have nothing to do but float around and wait for the next feeding.
Now, if you were to set up a real fish tank, add a bunch of plants and some tankmates, a filter, and a heater, you would be amazed how active these fish can be in a proper setup.
Plants are very important part of the tank - it makes the space seem more closed in and gives them a sense of security, while blocking the line of sight across the tank urgest them to move around and expore more.

PROBABLY SO.I'M SORRY .IF A FISH IS ALWAYS MOVING THAN YOU KNOW THEY FEEL OK, BUT FOR SOME ODD REASON A FISH THAT MOVES SLOW OR IS AT THE BOTTOM, THEN THEY ARE FEELING SICK OR ON THE VERGE OF DYING.I HAD A BETTA ONE TIME AND I COULD NEVER SEEM TO RAISE THEM.THEY WOULD DO FINE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS THEN THEY WOULD GET CLOSE TO BOTTOM AND I KNEW THEY WERE DYING

might need to change the water. If it is too high in amonia, nitrates, or nitrites he might be in distress. Change about 1/2 of the water after letting it sit out for a day (or use the chemical conditioners) and see if he does better.

My fish is pretty inactive most of the time also...but maybe you're under/over feeding him (I feed mine every other day)...or the water is too cold possibly.

Mine does the same thing at times. I very gently tap on his tank and then he starts moving around.

The way you can tell if he's dying is if is fins become smaller and thinner.
If he still has color and full fins, he's probably just bored

a larger container, and a mirror might help, when they see their own reflection, they think it is another fish and will react if they are healthy.
