i was told on this site that feeder fish spread diseases should i refrain from buying them for my pirhana and pike?

i just got 2 new fishies...they r kissing fish...one is really activ and the uthr is really calm and just sits @ the botom of the tank...my tank ahs a filter and a place for them to hide...i kno that most of these fish are known to "bob" with their mouths, neither of my fish are doin that! is that bad...they r new so im asumin that they r young'uns...but if u can help it'd b apreciated! KTHNX

because I got a zebra and he killed half of my fishes that I had and the most incredible thing was I had a betta fish and I had it outside near the fish tank and when I got home I didnt see the zebra in my fish tank so I thought my sister took it back because she gave it to me ,,,to my surprise the zebra was outside the fish tank(15 galon) in the small jar and the betta was killed but it was 1 million in not to missed the jar other wise he would have killed himself on the carpet is that crazy or what,,,,,,,,,,,I swear I put this on my head,,,,

I bought my two oscars together a few months ago and since i've gotten them, when they are not swimming around eatting & playing, they like to lay on the bottom of the tank. My oscars are just babies and they are a Tiger Striped Oscar and a Albino Oscar and they seem to be healthy as can be...why do they like to lay on the bottom sometimes?

I bough an Ahli from petsmart and a Electric Blue from Exotic Aquarium. Does anybody know for sure if both these are the true Sciaenochromis ahli they sell. Or is it something like I keep hearing this thing like collector have these different type of Ahli that aren't the true one. I was wondering if anybody know for sure.

I have this medicine called Quick Cure. I've never used it before. It says take the carbon out of the filter for 24 hours and it turned the water blue. Will the tank be ok with no filter? About how many days does it take to cure? Is it ok for my other fish who don't have it? Is there anything better for ick?

I am setting up a 75 gallon fish tank, and have found a spot to put it that is off by less than 1/4 " at any corner. What can I put under the tank to make it perfect? Or is that close enough? It is on carpeting if that matters.

I got him with my 30 gallon tank so he's lived there for 3 years (the lady said he was 3 years old). She sent his food (tropical flakes) with me. I've fed the fish 3 times in the past few days and the other fish eat but I never saw him eat. I even put in an algea wafer and he didn't go for that either. Why isn't he eating? Also, tips on catching a Tiger barb? I have a mean one who keeps nipping my shark's tail and he's got to go. I just can't catch the little booger.

i have 2 red fin sharks one big one and one baby one 1 tiger barb a dwarf gourami a pictus catfish and some other see through fish!is this good or not?my big red fin shark chases the small red fin shark some times!they both have caves with the backs out!the small red fin shark is scared of the other fish when will it start protecting itself and chasing the other fish!

i'm planning on having 3 dwarf neon rainbow fish, 3 red dwarf gourmis, 1 betta ( fighting fish), 4 (or 6) neon tetras and two catfish.

i bought a 65 litre tank and it came with an undergravel filter but its to strong and produces to much of a current and i know that most of the fish above need gentle currents that are not so strong.

so my question is what type of filter should i use that still cleans the water but provides a smoother current? (preferably one without chemicals involved)

or how can i reduce the current of the undergravel filter i already have????

I went on vacation for about two weeks and when I came back, I had six baby guppies! Yippee!! LOL Okay, I have two questions:
1. How long does it take for them to get full grown? (And at what age will they start mating?) When will I be able to see what color they will be? Right now they're all pretty much clear...with one exeption..one of them is sort of blackish-blueish. Is this normal?
2. When will I be able to tell which ones are boys and which ones are girls?
Also, I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas for guppy names. I know it's hard to say without seeing them. I know they won't stay babies forever, but I thought of some cute names. I was thinking like: fry, chai, guy...stuff like that. lol And also, it was snowing on the day that we got home and saw them-my first time to ever see snow, too! AND it's almost easter, so maybe an Easter name?
One more question!! Is it my imagination, or are the fry getting larger by the hour?!? Every time I look at them they SEEM bigger! LOL

I am going to get these fish for my 5 gallon:
- a powder blue dwarf gourami
- a dwarf gourami
- a honey sunset gourami
- a red fire dwarf gourami
- 3 tiger barbs or an oto

Are they all compatible? I think the 4 gouramis are but I think I mite want to kind of kick out the tiger barbs and get an oto.... should I? And should I get a submersible heater for my 5 gallon? Its a 5 gallon Aqua Tech Hex from Wal Mart and it didnt come with one.. and I'm on a TIGHT budget... Im almost broke! I need to get gravel and the fish... what should I get? Thank you! :-) Oh and don't you guys hate it when people put false advertising for tanks like 5 goldfish in a 5 gallon? That was what it had on my tank. Don't 5 goldfish require 50 gallons of water? I totally disagree with the advertisment! Thats just cruel!
