They really aren't much more prone to disease than other fish from a pet store, but they can and do carry various diseases. I recommend you quarantine them as you should for any other fish going into your tank. Place them in a separate tank or container for a week or so before you use them and make sure they aren't carrying any diseases.

Feeder fish are usually not kept in very good conditions and are as such prone to illness or disease. These diseases can spread to your healthy fish.
Why would you put untreated tap water in your tank? I suggest you get a book on proper tank care immediately. Many factors go into successful fish keeping and guidance at the beginning is key. Poor care is just plain cruel.

You should put some salt in the water - it kills a lot of bacteria. Don't put any feeder fish in with your fish if they don't look healthy. And don't put any fish store water that feeder fish come with in your tank. I've never had any trouble with feeders but I would never add their water to mine. I even rinse the feeders off.
The clorinated water isn't good for the fish. The easiest way to avoid problems is to fill a container with water you're going to add, but let it sit at room temperature for 24 hours before you pour it in. The clorine will disappear by itself after a while.

ussually they are not taken care of very well and in overcrowded tanks with high levels of ammonia. it just depends on where you get them from. get another tank and quarentine them for a week before you feed them to you pike and piranaha. as for the tap water... i use no tap water. but i have heard that in a very very small amount it can acctually be good. not enough to harm the fish tho. i wouldnt try it.

Yes, they are kept in crowded, and often filthy, conditions and are prone to catching and spreading diseases. And as for your water, not all towns/cities add chlorine or chloramines to their water, you're just one of the lucky ones that doesn't have to buy those expensive water conditioners.

Yes they are especially if they are feeder goldfish but if you feed them occasionally you should be fine like once or twice a week as a supplement.

the fish wouldn't die because that isn't that harmful. if it had LOTS of clorine in the tap water it would die but if it didn't it would be fine.
