You are actually lucky they are not kissing-----the kiss is really sparing and can get rough enough to cause injuries that will lead to death in many instances.---thank you for providing hiding places-----that might keep peace.

People never seem to tire of the spectacle of a pair of these fish going through their "kissing" antics. Thats why they are known as Kissing Gourami too.

It is very comical to watch two of them face each other, then pucker their thick, rubbery lips and press them against each other´s, being very careful to make them meet squarely. Whether this is just a game with them is a question, which has been argued pro, and con, but it seems that as they seem to perform this strange (for a fish!) ritual less and less as they get older.

Here are some more info about your fishes:
Range: Sumatra, Borneo, Java, Malaya and Thailand.
Habits: Likes plenty of space and a sunny tank. All but the largest individuals get along with other fishes very well.
Water Conditions: Not critical. Likes a warm tank, 26 to 29 ºC.
Size: Reaches a length of 25 cm, but usually smaller.
Food Requirements: A greedy eater; loves to graze on algae on plants and glass sides, but this is only an appetizer; should be generously fed with live or frozen foods several times daily.
Colour Variations: Entire body pink to yellowish.

All fishes are generally sensitive to new environment. Kissing gauramies are no exceptions. Generally a tablespoon of aquarium salt per 2 gallons and raising the water temperature to 78-80 should help. Also refrain from adding new fish to the tank for a few days. The silent kisser can turn into an aggressive one and may hurt your new fish if it is smaller than this one. In a week or two it should return to normal.

They may not be acting like you have seen other act or they way they are described as actig just yet. Fish usually need a little time to settle in to a new tank before they act normal. Give them a day or two and they should begin to act like you expect.
