Yes, 'Cardinals' wthat are by the way schooling fish, will nipnat your betta. Although Bettas are fighting fish, it only is when they are in the company of another male Betta, Otherwise they make excellent co-habitants within a COMMUNITY fish tank, i.e. peace-loving fish, such as guppies, mollies, swordtails, platys, etc.

The tank is too small for that many fish. the in simple terms fish able to stay fortunately in that length may be the betta. in case you get an stronger tank, a minimum of 10 gallons (40L), then you really could furnish the betta 5 gallons to himself. you may even could get 6 or 7 tetras to avert them from nipping on the betta's fins. The tetras could probable be quick sufficient to flee from the betta if he tries to attack, yet watch all of them at the same time for no less than 1/2-hour to be sure if there is any aggression, if so remove the aggressor.

It depends on the betta, some are not as agressive as others and the gender could also make a difference

no they shouldn't I have had tetras in with my betta and they dont seem to bother him. And your betta is not going to fight with any of the other fish, if anyting he'll swim away.
