I have a 15 gallon tank with a heater and filter. Right now I have a Male Betta - 5 neon tetras and a dwarf frog. Is there any non schooling fish I can add. I really only have room for another fish or 2 - I like colorful fish - any recomendations to add to this community?

I've been through 4 of these 4x96 watt compact flourescent jobs in about 9 months. I think I've had Jebo and odyssea and neither of them have lasted worth a dang. We have a fan in the canopy and coralife timer running the lights. Can someone with some aquarium experience please tell me what brand to buy?

I have my Betta in a 2.5 gallon planted tank. I apparently had some snail eggs hitch a ride on some new plants that I bought. I've only seen one and have scoured the tank looking for more but I only see the one. If I allow him to grow in there and it is only the one snail, will he harm my plants or fish badly? I am not above replacing the plants if he eats too much of them. Right now all I have in there is a small bunch of Combomba (sp?) and 3 aponogeton bulbs. I know how to get rid of the snails if it came down to it but I just need to know if I keep at least one for aesthetic value would it be harmful?

I have 4 fish tanks and constantly hear about lowering nitrates. I have the opposite problem in that my nitrates remain always very low...possibly to not even the reading of 5. I try to tell people I have low nitrates but for some reason, can't seem to get a believer. Is there an explanation for this low level in my tank and what can I do to increase nitrates in my planted tank?

Thank You

I have a 1gallon fish tank. It has an air pump system and undergravel filter system. I boiled my water and let it get to room temp. I have washed the tank and dried it. I washed the rocks several times. This was Saturday. I let the pump run over night. I put my fish in yesterday and today the water is starting to get cloudy and a little foamy on top. What is the problem and what can I do to fix it?

I have a 20 gallon tank, and have one Bio-wheel filter running.

I also have another Whisper filter sitting in a box.... is it a bad idea to hook it up and have 2 different filters running ?

i've been asking simliar questions before and i've gotten some great answers but i think the waterfall problem has to be rid of.

the tank in my bedroom and from the previous answers i learned that tetra and aquaclear create waterfalls too.

so now it looks like i need to look for an in the tank/submersible filter.

any suggestions?

its for a 40 gallon wide with 2 RESs. the water level cant be that high since its for turtles thats why i cant have the waterfall problem (too noisy)

thanks again.

The Goldfish is 8" long and the Shubunkin is only 2 1/2".
They've been together in the tank for about an hour and a half. The Goldfish is nudging the Shubunkin around the tank aggressively and nipping/sucking at it's tail and fins.

The Goldfish has been on its own in a different Aquarium for 3 years since it ate a comet.

I had to move the Goldfish into a new Aquarium 2 days ago and the place where I purchased the Shubunkin suggested moving objects in the tank around in order to confuse the Goldfish of it's territory but that distracted her for 5 minutes or so.

Is the Shubunkin going to die?

I feel its inevitable and would rather know so as to put it into another Aquarium and buy more same sized buddies.

I would like to buy one (or two) goldfishes. Or maybe an other kind of fish. But I do not want to put a whole fish-tank and all the stuff into my room. Can I keep the fishes in one of those glasses?

i just set up my tank and right now i have the emperor 400....i got it to work after pouring alot of water....then i had to shut it off because of the waterfall noise (annoying) and when i turned it back on....i had to pour alot more water again.

i have decided to get something else. the emperor 400 is very loud.

i need something simple and QUIET! something that wont create a water fall because i have turtles and i dont (cant) have my water all the way up ( i know if i had the water all the way up close to the waterfall the noise would not be as loud).

the best one i can think of is the tetra whisper. anyone with good experiences with them? and what about aquaclear?

thank you for your time.
