But it has shorter fins, so i think it's a female. I need to know what kind of platy she is so i can look up some info about how to care for her, can anyone help me?

If it's that color but shorter fins, it's a brick red platy and probably a pure strain, not a hybrid. You can tell the sex by looking at the bottom most fin under the belly of the fish. If it's pointed like a tube, that's a male. If it's normal looking then your fish is a female. If it's a female adds are very good she is pregnant just from the time spent in the shops tank exposed to males, they really do breed that easily.

One this page, the top left molly is a male and the top right fish is a female.

That page also has good info about them.

If it's dorsal fins are shorter than the pic , it is just a regular red platy. The basic care would be the same for any type of platy.

Probably a sailfin molly.

You can probably keep him/her in water in the high-70's-degree F range, and keep the PH around 7.5. Mollies/Platys will do good with ordinary tropical flake food.
