i want to fill my tank with natural fish like flounder and snook but my question is do they sell snook and flounder in any pet store

My goldfish is like 3 or 4 years old and he is like 8 inches long. Will he get any bigger? Also, can you tell if it is a male or female? Is the male bigger? Thanks.

guppy gave birth a month ago, looks swollen, is she due again shortly, hard to see her gravid spot as her tail end is very dark blue

Not sure if the fish is physically injured, sick, or stressed - I'm guessing the first one, but I have little experience with fish. I've cleaned the tank, gravel, and filter, changed the water, and I've been feeding it as recommended with the food itself and other fish-owners. The fish is still fairly active, but it often pushes itself against the sides or the very bottom of the tank, and there are also times when it just floats at the top or near the bottom - always with the same side of it's body upwards. (It isn't upright.) I'm in college, so my means are pretty limited - I didn't even mean to own a pet, the fish was given to me as an unexpected gift. Can anyone help my fish?

my fish is sort of swollen from it's jaw and my brother thought it ate the aquarium pebbles and he grabbed it under water and shook it and these things came out and they weren't rocks! they were eggs! will they hatch cuz it's only 1 fish does she need the male to fertalize!

ok now it has been about 3 hours and she has only had one baby is that all she can have she looks like a normal size guppy but like a lil bigger not a lot?

I want to add plastic plants. We to buy some and thought they were too much money for so little. looked at the silk and plastic in the craft dept. Didnt get any but wanted to know.
I did see silk ones for the tanks in the fish supply dept.

whatelse is compatible with a honey gourami, a powder blue dwarf gourami, and a dwarf gourami? i was going to put them in a 5 gallon tank and i used a website that Copperhead gave me called http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/community_results.php?page=2 and I dont think it works because it says my tank can fit: a dwarf gourami, a powder blue dwarf gourami, 2 honey gouramis, and 2 neons. If you have any extra advice please let me know! thank you and if i was being cruel i would simply ignore you guys and get 5 convict cichlids (i wont though because im seriously against animal cruelty not with it! ) :-D

I bought a goldfish at at the weekend for my youngest daughter. Initially it seemed fine, today however it seems to be having a bit of a problem.
It is kind of laying at the bottom of the tank on its side, when it does move about it doesn't seem to be able to swim 'normally' but is leaning on one side and kind of spinning, it is really hard to describe, but it does not look happy at all, does anyone know what the problem is, how to fix it, and if it is going to fishy heaven and I am going to need to find a replacement as soon as possible!!

The remaining fish has now started acting a bit strange. It seems like it is "pacing" the fish tank. What could this be? Should I buy another fish to put in the tank with it, or would that cause problems with the original fish?

My betta has been happy and healthy in the bowl for over a year now, and I follow the directions on this page to the letter...he has plenty of space, gets fed regularly, etc.

My question is: are there any plants I can put in the top of the bowl instead of the peace lily I initially bought? The peace lily works great but is getting really old and needs to be replaced but naturally a new one is IMPOSSIBLE to find. Any alternatives?

i had my fish in the net breeder and i put alot of plants in there for the babies,but when i wole up this morning all the babies were eatin by the mom i didnt wake up in time to take the mom out...so my question is does anyone have any suggestions to help save the fish!!!! i have a plastic breeder also but the babies swim through the little holes at the bottom so that one is kindof pointless also.

ok...i just got tropical fish yesterday...they seemed ok yesterday but i have 2 fish and there always at the top of the tank and dont swim that much..whats wrong..is the tank getting enough oxygen or should i move the filter beacause thats where the fish lay on top of the tank near the filter?

I have two tanks. One contains two albino frogs (about 5 in. long), chinese algae eaters and two medium sized fish. My other tank contains a catfish, red tailed shark, chiclid, chinese algae eaters and a placostamus (sp?). Would a blue lobster be compatible in either of these tanks? If so, what is their life span and what can I feed them? Is there a website that I can go to in order to research them further? I think they are beautiful creatures. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a community tank, a few neon tetras, 1 clown lown, 2 serpae tetras, 1 black molly and 1 guppy (20 gallon tank)

for some reason, my black molly has a beef with the guppy and he chases him all over the tank. he has already taken a bite out of the guppys rear fin


Is it possible this will stop at some point ? is there anything i can do besides seperating them (change their food ?)

everywhere i read says the molly is not an agressive fish ?

Help!

ive already gotten the Maracyn-Two 1st i got the Maroxy then read more that, that wasnt for him so yesterday i got the Maracyn-Two but he looks worse now... like now he cant even swim yesterday he was swimming just fine... HELP i dont want him to die id feel horrible

I have been battling fin rot with my fish off and on since I've gotten him a month ago. I treated it with Melafix for awhile and the fins began growing back and the case was actually pretty minor then. Each time I would stop his treatment after the required week his fins would shred again. I think he is now resistant to Melafix and it doesn't work anymore. I went out and bought some Maracyn-two. How quickly should this stuff work? His fins have shredding almost to an inch from the base and yesterday it seemed like it was getting worse by the hour. I was hoping to see at least a little growth by now. His ammonia level is in a safe zone, it never reaches above .5 and he has no nitrites yet as I was just beginning his cycle not long ago. I left the filter running as the maracyn-two said I could do so. I'm getting worried, everyone is telling me it's just a fish but I don't want to watch him die :( I've gotten really attached.

The whiteness on the fin and forehead appeared about a week ago and I have tried treating it with an algae neutralizer. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to work very well.

I have isolated him from my other fish for a period of 24 hours and treated him with a stress reliever hoping for a change. There was no change.

Now, it justs sits at the bottom of the fish tank occasionaly moving. His eating habits has changed he now eats considerably less than normal.

What should I do?

i have tried api ph down but it doesnt seem to do anything...any number of water changes makes no difference.any ideas as im down to my last 8 fish which i dont want to lose...thanks

I am upgrading to a 29 gallon tank. In my 10 gallon, I have 1 female betta, 1 silver angelfish(about 3 inches tall), and two gourami's.

If I move the angel and the two gourami's into a 29 gallon tank (after its properly cycled), then what other fish can I keep in there? I was planning on getting some more Angel's, but Im not sure how they will react with the one I have already. And I also like the look of African Chicilids, but are they too vicious?

Btw- I am keeping the 10 gallon for the female betta, and plan to add about 4 or 5 more female's to that tank. Is this a good idea?

She's rather young so she definitely wont notice the new one but perhaps it would be kinder to just tell the truth. I'm just afraid she'll get really sad.
