Some people swear by the treatment and as a result get chastised by those who believe in chemicals and medications first. If a treatment works why is there so much debate?

So, I have a few tiny brown snails in my aquarium. They just sort of got there by accident because they were attached to the live plants we purchased. I think they are kind of cool. Yes, I already know they are going to breed like crazy ... and I already know some simple tricks for reducing the population. What I wonder is if anyone knows what breed they are - are they "mystery snails" or "apple snails", etc? Do they have the same benefits as snails that you may intentionally purchase (like mystery snails, apple snails, ramshorn snails), like eating algae, excess food, and plant debris?

I had two fish and one of them was pregnant when I got her. She had babies (5 that I could count, I'm guessing she ate the others and 2 died...so 3 left) and I'm not sure how to care for them. I've separated the two adult fish from the fry, so when can I move them all back in together?

Everytime a clean the tank all of them die...I buy new ones everytime the others die. They are in a 150 gallon along with columbian sharks, angels, ghost knife, and kissing gouarami's. Everyone else is fine. What am I doing wrong? I use aquarium salt...is that what it could be?

I came home after Easter dinner only to find that my black moor goldfish had developed a nasty case of ich. Because all of the pet stores were closed, I was told to do a water change (I did about a 30% change) and to add 1 tsp of salt per gallon of water every 12 hours for a total of 3 times and to raise the heat in the tank to 80 degrees. However, I don't have a heater in my tank and was unable to acquire one. My questions are:
1. Will just salt alone work (my tank is about 70 degrees right now)
2. How long will it take before the white spots come off?
3. How long should the salt stay in the water?
4. Should I do water changes during the process?
5. Will the ich from the black moor affect my other fish (a smaller black moor, a calico, and a feeder)?

Thanks so much in advance!

I accidentally bought the purifier/de-chlorine/whatever and I found it was made for lakes. Is a very miniscule amount (about 1.5cc)of water enough for a 10 gallon tank?

I'm really worried.

ok.here is the problem with my male betta.he already done spawning and it seem like he didn't care about the eggs falling to the bottom of the tank at all.the female did most of the work picking up the eggs and putting it in the bubble nest.after i took the female out, he didn't stay under the nest to look after the eggs.he just swim around the tank not taking care of the eggs.then two days later, when the eggs suppose to be hatch by then.i look at the bubble nest, there seem to be no baby fry hanging on to the bubble or no bubble under the styrofoam cup.there were no bubble, no hatchling.

Hi there, I have a community tank with about 20 fish which has been up & running for about 3 months. My three red eye tetras have some kind of problem with their skin... on the sides of the fish, the scales/skin seems to be peeling and are a whitish grey colour. Also one of them is very red in the gill area. None of my other fish seem to be affected by this, including my serpaes & neons. I've been trying to find information on the net, but can't see any pictures that look similar other than 'saddleback disease', but this is somewhat different looking. Anyway, if anyone can offer suggestions as to how I can treat this or where to find info on something that sounds similar, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
