We didn't even know we had a breeding pair and just spotted eggs on the filter and the male is fertilizing them. Help what do we do?

If you want to raise the babies you will have to get them away from the adult fish.(They will eat the babies)

Unplug the filter, take it out and put it in another tank.

Make sure the water is chlorine free and the right temperature.

Also do not plug in or use any filter as this will suck up and kill the babies.

(tropical fish are not easy to breed but it can be done.)

Good Luck!

P.S.
In response to the other answerer's that seem to think that angel fish have warm caring family values

ANGEL FISH DO NOT RAISE THEIR YOUNG.

THEY EAT THEM!

The only chance the babies have is to hide in seaweed.

And if there is a filter running they will have no chance of survival.

Unfortunately the other answerer's above and below me do not seem to realize this.

you can go to angelfish.net They have a lot of useful information regarding angelfish.

I wouldnt move them. The pair might eat them, but they will lay again in about a week. They will eventually learn to raise the eggs.

You will have to cover the filter opening, try using a knee high or something so they dont get sucked up into the filter.

They will spawn again in 7 to 14 days. Some pairs do end up being decent parents, most end up eating the eggs, wigglers, or fry. Here's an article I wrote, it will probably help; http://www.fishforums.net/Angelfish-Spawning-and-Breeding-t96104.html

i do no longer remember how long it takes for angel fish eggs to hatch, yet once you do a chemical cycle on a clean tank, and flow the clear out to that tank, go away it working until closer to hatch time, then in case you are able to slide foam over the intake to evade the fry from being sucked up interior the clear out, it may act the comparable as a fry clear out, yet extra effective. i could flow the adults in with the eggs so they are not stressing out the different fish, or getting under pressure themselves.

Leave them alone, and let the parent fish care for them. If the parents can't raise this brood, they will eat the eggs, don't worry, they will spawn again soon, and you can provide a more suitable spawning site then. It's not unusual for new Angelfish parents to consume several spawns before they settle down and raise their fry,so don't be too concerned if this happens repeatedly. A suitable spawning site might be a nice clean piece of slate or a "spawning cone" made of ceramic material.----Good luck, and don't worry.----PeeTee
