Before you even consider breeding discus you really need to do lots of research on them. Discus are very touchy fish and are not easy to keep, much less breed. Buying two would not work hardly ever. That would be an extreme stroke of luck. Discus need to pair off for themselves. This mean get 6 young fish, raise them together but with no other fish in a large 100+ gallon tank for about a year and allow them to pair off. That's just the first of the challenges in breeding discus. Not to mention water quality, food sources... loads of other very exacting details. This is nothing like breeding barbs, tetras or angels. Please read up before you buy even the first fish.

Sorry. There are no true way of sexing discus fish. But, you can leave the babies with the parents, they are good parents with experience. Make sure that the water in the discus's tank is perfect. A lot of people don't have rocks in their tanks because that collects a lot of waste.

theres no way to tell boys from girls - you just have to get lucky or buy a pair that is already breeding.

no, you do not take the babies away from the parents. they lay hundreds of eggs - the babies attach themselves to the mucus on the parents sides when they are born and they feed off this.

discus need very specific water requirements such as PH lvl, temp etc... if you dont know much about them, dont bother trying to breed them because the fry wont live.
you need to do a lot of research online if you want to keep them successfully let alone breed them.

I would say start with a "nice" discus fish, check ebay and see what I mean. there are some very hearty/healthy fish available, though it will cost a bit, in the end, having lil ones that are "pure bred" so to speak will be worth it.

don't separate the fry, they live off their parents.

here's a very informative site to help.
