Lol you have 3 cichlids in your 10 gallon tank.
In about 3 months your tank is going to be super cloudy and your gonna have tank fights. Remember cichlids grow to be over a foot long and are extremely aggressive. I think since your cichlids are still juvenile, you can keep them for about 2 more months before you need to get a 30 gallon tank.

What type of African cichlids? These can range from the small shell-dwellers to the great big frontosas. Some of the shell-dwellers grow to about 2" and you could have maybe 6 or 7 of them in your 10 gallon (they, unlike most fish, like to be slightly overstocked // cuts down on aggression) The frontosa can get over 12" and as such would need a VERY large tank, for 2 approximately 75 gallons. There are many different varieties, sizes, temperaments in between. Your acara will get to be about 8" if cared for properly and not stunted in the tank. He is a New World cichlid, however, and does not like the high PH your Africans will thrive in. Minimum tank size 55 gallons.

Now. As to what size tank depends on what kind of cichlids. So bare minimum with no other info. At least a 55 gallon (4 foot long) if not larger.
Most cichlid are aggressive and/or get very large. If you don't get a bigger tank soon, you may end up with dead fish on your hands in the very near future.

The bigger concern then size is aggression. We can say one, two, or even six months (if you're really good at maintaining the tank). In the end you'll know you need to upgrade because the fish will start to kill each other. I strongly recommend getting a new tank ASAP, before this starts to happen.
It's impossible to say what size tank because cichlids range from 1" fully grown to over two feet long fully grown. You need to figure out what types you have an let us know. In addition, not all cichlids are compatible with each other, and bad mixes leads to injured or dead cichlids.
Still, most cichlids should have a tank of about 50 gallons or bigger. There are exceptions, mainly with the dwarf species like Rams, Apistogramma, Kribensis, and shell dwellers, but most types need a pretty big tank to deal with their activity levels, size, and/or aggression.

well the bigger the better. how big they get depends on what kind of cichlid they are. they are territorial so they might want some room to spread out a bit. check craigslist for tanks and u can save some bucks. i am sure your parents would appreciate that. also spring is coming and so are yard sales. that is a good place to get a bigger tank. now not to worry, it will be a bit before they cant turn around in the tank. so just relax and take your time and find a good deal on a tank. have fun

What kind of cichlids are they? It really makes a difference. Are they African? Cichlids are naturally VERY aggressive. They sound like they are already big enough to be put into a larger tank.
