I would like to install a medium sized Koi pond in my backyard. I live in South Carolina so I will not need a heater for the Winter and I am not worried about the cost of the Koi. I am interested in the cost of electricity to run the filters, pumps and so forth. I have seen that I can buy an entire pond kit and was wondering about the level of difficulty to install it myself.

I very much look forward to any help or advice that anyone may have. Thanks in advance!!

My tank is 1 week old- have had 2 dwarf gouramis for4 days. I treated the water with "Aquaplus" when I filled tank, also added "Cycle". Added 1/2 recomended dosage of "Plantgro" as well.Noticed the white cottony looking stuff yesterday on the wood only (which was purchased at the pet store) I have 5 real plants and 44w of floresent lighting if that would make any difference.

I have a 2.65 gal tank with two female bettas. I just noticed yesterday that my female yellow betta, Belle, has popeye because of stressfully high amounts of nitrate. I feed them everyday and I know it was not like that on Monday... guess I didn't know something like [popeye] could occur so fast. The levels have been adjusted and I have bought and treated a "hospital tank" with MarPlex-Two immediately to medicate my sick fishy. Hopefully I caught the symptom of popeye early enough to let it heal, but what I am most concerned about is her eating. She has not eaten since Monday and I am terribly worried. I try to put the little "betta bits" in front of her good eye so that she can see it clearly but she doesn't seem interested. What do I do?

I posted this a few hours ago, but there have been a few new developments and I figured this was a better way to get more answers. Here is the previous question:

I have a normal everday goldfish, Goldie. She, not really sure its a she, is about 3-4 inches long, she is in a 10 gallon tank with her tank mate, Klouse-same size, pretty much same fish. They have been in the same tank together for over a year. Their water gets changed on a regular basis, its kept clean. They are also feed as they should be, except for her, she is fed shelled peas occasionally, because she has a swim bladder probelm. Well anyways, lately I noticed that her right eye has started to bug out. It is about twice the size out as it should be. I have no idea why its like this. I was wondering if anyone knew of a reason why this might happen, or if this has happened to them before. I plan on calling the pet store tomorrow and seeing if they know what is the problem, but until then I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Everyone said that is was a disease called ‘popeye’, which I read into and did sound correct. I even order a thing of medication from petsmart, still plan on calling the pet store, once they open. Well my husband just looked a few minutes ago and there is a white ‘zit-esk’ like thing right above her eye. Is this go alone with the symptoms of ‘popeye’ or is this something more serious or what? I haven’t separated the two fish, because my husband and I figure if she has something so does the other one and we would have to treat them both anyways. Please Help? It doesn’t help that I am sorta a hypochondriac, and it says this infection can be given to humans

I'm sorry i don't know how to comment on your answers .
I have looked at my original fish and he ?? definately has those white pimple things on his gills . I've had him about 18mths and he's or its roughly 2 and half " long .
I now have a new question.
The fish he is chasing is slightly smaller in length but alot smaller in size.
If he is trying to breed what will happen and is the new one big enough or old enough to cope. The other one is a lot smaller and he isnt bothering that one so i dont think its a bulling issue of size. I hope you can follow this , i'm more confused now than before of what to do . But thankyou for those that answered my last post .

I had one goldfish in a small tank and desided to get a bigger tank and add some friends. I was told by lots of people that this would be fine ( including the pet store ). The first fish has been in the new tank alone for 4 days . I got two new fish yesterday . I was also told that fish arnt territorial but the first fish wont stop chasing one of the new ones.
I took him out for 2 hours before putting him back in. It hasnt made any difference. Help what do i do ???
Could he be trying to mate ???? How can you tell ???
I dont want to harm any of them but i dont wont two tanks on the go.

We are thinking about getting two of them. How big of a tank should we get? My cousin has two in a 2 1/2 gallon bowl with live plants on the top. If you have them what do you feed them? Can they be in the same tank as gold fish? We are thinking of getting a big tank for all the fresh water fish and such.

do the tatras need an air filter?

2007-04-10 14:47:29 · 2 answers · asked by Justin B 1

My filter wasnt working well, and I had a missing fish. I pulled out the filter to discover that it had sucked up the fish. After about an hour, I successfully cleaned the dead fish out of the filter. Now, my filter isnt working. I've been playing with it for a couple hours now, and every now and again, it starts to work, but then stops. Its late, and I cannot get another filter system tonight. Can my fish live overnight and all day tomorrow w/o a filter system? I do have an air blower blowing oxygen into the tank. and incase of emergence's or power outages, I have a battery operated oxygen blower, but its way too loud to leave on at night. Will my fish die? What should I do?
