Plecos will be fine with goldfish and the cooler water. Just make sure the tank is big enough. Goldfish and plecos are extremely big waste producers. The minimum size tank for 2 or 3 goldfish and a pleco is about 55 gallons.

Stay away from algae eaters that are tropical such as siamese algae eaters and chinese algae eaters. CAEs are bad fish anyway as they get very aggressive as they get older and will try to suck the slime coat off other fish, especially slow moving fish like goldfish.

If you have a tank smaller than a 10 gal than no the algae eater can not go in with the goldfish. If you have something other than a 55+ tank/pond I would go with either an otto cat algae eater or a rubber lip pleco. These are the algae eaters that will stay small and can go with goldfish. If you have a larger tank or a pond (where it will not freeze in the winter) a regular pleco will work. Good Luck!

Most any docile fish can go together. You do need to make sure there is adequate filtration so that the high ammonia produced will not be harmful to the pleco (algae eater). He will clean the areas of your tank that are algae covered and not add too much debris himself. I have a huge algae eater in my tank and the goldfish get along together "swimmingly".

Yes algae eaters and gold fish go well together in any tank.

Remember however, goldfish and algae eaters can get large depending on the type you have.

Water quality is important when keeping any fish with goldfish.

Lots of luck!

A Chinese algae eater can go into a cold water fish tank but can grow quite large. There is also the Borneo sucker whichis quite small.

If you mean a chinese algea eater I personlly wouldn't recommend one for any tank, they get big and they get mean. If you mean a pleco, then no, the water temperatures are too different and the common pleco can get over a foot in a tank, so a huge tank is needed for them.

I would suggest snails as a good algae control in this situation.

It depends how big the tank is. If its just a little bowl I would say no b/c they need space to be happy.

you mean a plecocostumus? SURE, why not?! As long as there is enough room, they can go in even with fighting fish, I had one when I had Oscars. Had an Apple Snail too- the thing was HUGE.
