Gold fish and bettas shouldn't be together becuase the goldfish is a coldwater fish and the betta is a warmwater or tropical fish. Also, a goldfish of any type is going to outgrow that 2.5 gallon tank in a matter of a month or two. Not a good idea for a 2.5 gallon. Maybe I could suggest a few white clouds, a cory catfish or 2-3 neons instead? Those will stay small enough for your tank.

regrettably bettas and guppies do not blend. they're going to nip one yet another's fins and you will finally end up with lifeless fish. A 5 gallon may well be reliable for a betta plus a million otto or a betta plus one african dwarf frog. Or, in case you go away the betta out you are able to desire to get 3 male guppies (don't get women, they are already pregnant and you will not have room for the toddlers). the commonplace rule is 1inch of fish according to gallon yet there are different issues to think approximately whilst installation a tank. A clear out for a 5 gallon tank isn't reliable adequate for extra advantageous than only a pair small fish.

no. the betta needs to be with other tropical community fish.
goldfish are coolwater fish and are way too dirty and get too big for a 2.5 gallon tank. they need at least 20 gal per first goldie then 10 more gallons for each additional.
and people who say that a betta will kill any other fish are not right.

they will only kill other fish with long flowing fins such as guppies and gouramis as well.

other community fish that will not nip onthe bettas fins will be fine.
get a 5 gallon tank and put in 2-3 cories or otos, or some small tetras.

Contrary to popular belief, bettas realy can get along with other fish, as long as the fish don't have long fins that would resemble another betta. My betta has three Zebra Danios as room mates, and they get along perfectly.
However, goldfish would not be a good tank mate, because they prefer colder water, while bettas are tropical fish and should be kept in warmer (at least 75 degrees) water.

I've tried it, male bettas dun go along with anything other than themselves, they prefer being loners. You could try...but don't be too disapointed if it doesn't work out, and you probably will need to treat your fish for some ripped fins. Female bettas on the other hand will go along with other fishes.

I have had many betta's, one of them I have put in a tank with 4 gold fish. And nothing went wrong. No body started attacking eachother, and no one was dieing. But watch out because that betta that was in the tank died because she got sucked into the filter. So I'd suggest not to put your betta into a filtered tank, but if you do, no worries about the gold fish, nothing happens.

NO!! i wouldnt.. Bettas are chinese or japenese fighting fish.. they usually try to kill other fish and one another.. the only fish and time u can but the betta together is when it is ready to reproduce and only another betta.. If u put another in there before its ready to reproduce, it will kill it. After the fish gets pregnate. u need to take it out

A beta fish will eat or try to eat and fight anything so I wouldn't recommend putting with the other fish.
