That depends on what kind of fish they are. Add what kind you are asking about and someone can help you out.

Oscars are almost impossible to sex. Even experienced breeders cannot tell just by looking. Either the fish are 'vented' or are paired up and you wait for eggs. I've had three total, and have two right now. My oldest is almost three years old but I've never known the sex of any.

It depends on the species of fish and the age. Most young fish you can not tell. Only when they become sexually mature are the diffrences distinguisable. For many species there are no outward physical diffrences at all. Good luck!

Depends on the kind of fish.
In most cases where there is a difference, the males are smaller and much more colorful. In many cases, however, there is no obvious difference.

Male fish are usually more decorative, meaning brighter color, fancier tails. Male fish will also eat their offspring. Then you have some fish that will start out male and turn into a female. You can also get fish that are neither male or female. They can be considered both however they can not impregnate themselves.

This depends on the fish...say you have a live bearer like a platy, the anal fin is shaped differently (triangle on the girls, pointy on the boys)

POst the fish type and I will check back

i know the sex for betta or cichlids, yet for goldfish, it isn't a threat to outline the sex till the all started mating. maximum fishes, male have brighter colour even as woman has darker colour. Male has longer anal and dorsal fins, and for certain cichlid style, they have a hump/horn on their head. woman has more advantageous rounded or fatter abdomen. Thats all i can allow you to know.
