Okay, well to start off... About 2 weeks ago i had 1Blue Gourami, 3 White Mollies, 2 Black Mollies, 2 Danios, 2 Tiger Barbs, 3 Neon Tetras and my Algae Eater. All those fish were in a 20 gallon tank and they did PERFECT together. Never had to worry about keeping the water stable or anything. I had a whisper filter and I did not have a heater. When i put my tank together i used regular tap water and then just treated the water. I have the cleanest water in my state (well thats what they say) but the fish seem to do fine with it even with water changes and everything. About a month ago i started to put small amounts of salt in my tank, as directed.

So i recently invested in a 55 gallon tank, hoping to later buy more fish but mainly to give my HUGE algae eater more room. He seemed too big for a 20 gallon. So I purchased a BioWheel filter, Heater, and New rocks. Now all my fish are dying!!!! They were so strong and healthy and now every fish is dying!! Please Help Me!!

I have two fish that seem to hate each other and one day I looked at one and a piece of the tail was gone. Then about a month later the same fish grew the piece that was missing back. How did this happen?

I've used baking soda to get the proper pH in both aquariums by raising the change water to 7.5 for the goldfish and 7.0-7.2 for the Betta. Their aquariums are now stable at 7.5 for the goldfish and 7.0 for the Betta. The Kh and Gh are still low. Kh at 6 percent and Gh at 3.5 percent. The water is very soft here in NYC. Is there any other way to raise the hardness without baking soda which will raise the pH? I've already added aquarium salt too, if that affects it.

In my 20 gallon tank, i've already done 2 water changes this week and my ammonia level is still at 1 ppm. What are the best products to reduce my ammonia level to 0 ppm. (I've already reduced feeding and vaccumed the gravel)

I have heard several experts say that sharks can't swim backward but i had quite a few black finned sharks that would not only seem to prefer swimming backward but also side ways! Has any one else seen something like that?

I'm upgrading to 29 gallon tank from a 16 gallon. If I just siphon the water from the smaller tank and use the same filter and gravel, plus the new filter and a couple extra pounds of new gravel, My tank would pretty much be cycled, right? Is this recommended?

I have a couple of goldfish that are laying on the bottom corner of the tank side by side, they dont swim or move to much. There's also a third fish that stays close by and sometimes lays side by side as well.
I just noticed it, so it hasn't been going on for to long.

I have had fish for 12 years, so I know a lot about them, but I am just wanting everyone's opinions on the subject. I have a 29 gallon tank with 2 bloodfin tetras, 3 yoyo loaches, and two 4-5 in. plecos (yes, I know I should get rid of one since they will grow so big...but that's not an option...). What fish could/should I add with my present fish, and how many? I am looking for a fish that is very hardy also...I have a great balance with the fish I have in there now, but a few more "swimming" type fish would be nice, although the yoyo loaches are so funny to watch. Any ideas?

My 120 gallon tank now seems to have several small snails which I hoped would be eaten by my dojo loaches but then I moved a piece of driftwood and found a whole clump of them and now there are several more. I have heard that other loaches like yoyo and clowns are both good snail eaters. I do not want to use chemicals and I don't want to use the lettuce method since I'd have to kill them somehow after. I'd rather they be used as a food source then crush them or let them dry out. Please let me know what has been the most effective way for you to get rid of these little pests.

I just last weekend got a 2 female bettas from Petco to add to my 29 gallon tank, it was a Saturday. Well, I haven't been here for a week and I come back on 4/7/07 to find that one of the female bettas was really bloated. I took her out and looked down on her, and she resembled a pine cone! So now she is in a ten gallon hospital tank, she has a heater( water is around mid 70'sF, should it be warmer?) with gravel, 1 plant, and 2 hideouts. The water has ben treated with Maracyn 2 (on day 2 of treatment), she won't eat her food, freeze dried bloodworms. What else can I do to make her get better faster? Does she need a filter, airbubbler, and a new heater so the temperature can be turned up? Also, can epson salt be purchased at Walmart? Now here is my other question, the other female bettas are fine, but the other new one is acting a lttle strange. She twists her body deep into the plastic plants, looks stuck and dead, than I shake the plant and she comes out. I have checked her white body
