All-Glass Aquarium Silicone Aquarium Sealant it's either black or white silicon.
the safest and sure one.though it's about 8bucks at petco.
i've recently used it in my 10gal tank. it took me a day or two to wait for it to dry. when you first apply it smells like a vinegar so you have to wait till the smell drifts away.
and i washed the tank for about 15mins. just to make sure its clean n the silicon is dry. i filled my tank half way let the water sat there for about 30mins to make sure that its well sealed. lastly i set-up the tank and added my cycled water.
go to this link for the sealant

hope this helps =)

you can buy selants from the pet store, but i have found the $3 silicon from walmart does the same thing at a third of the price. i have used it on 3 tanks that i had bought used. let it sit for a week after you do it and then go outside and rinse it with the hose for about 20 mins. i have never had a problem with it.

Obviously if it's sold in the aquarium store it will be safe. I'm a big fan of finding alternatives because fish store markups are usually too high. Food safe silicone is readily available at hardware type stores and is safe for aquariums too.

Your best bet is aquarium sealant, but GE produces a pure silicon sealant that is sold in hardware stores and the hardware department of places like Walmart that is marked aquarium safe. I have used it and had no problems. It comes in a large tube, but that tube is cheaper than the smaller tubes in pet stores and pet departments.

You must find a silicon sealant that does not contain anti-fungus chemistry, one made specifically for aquaria. The product that I have is by All-Glass Aquarium, item number 65010. There are also epoxy compounds that are aquarium-safe that will cure underwater.---Good luck.-----PeeTee

Are you certain that's a rust stain, and under no circumstances that the porcelain has chipped off, or worn off, and the forged iron sink is the reason behind the rust? if so, eliminating it gained't end the rusting, except you get some porcelain patch stuff at a ironmongery keep.

I would suggest getting an aquarium specific sealant. You can find them at different pet stores (I know they have some a Petsmart).

go to a pet store and they should have what you need.
Wal Mart has it also.
Just be sure the instructions say it is safe for aquariums.
I fixed my 150 gallon tank with it
