I had about 20 smallish guppies in my 20 gallon tank along with one goldfish, one small black more, and a snail. They have been living together for months but just recently they've dieing off like crazy. In the past week about five have died. What's wrong with them? They have heater.

The temperature is always between 75 and 78 which is where it is supposed to be for guppies because they are marine fish. The filter gets changed whenever it is dirty. The tank was just completely dumped and refilled with clean water. The tank gets treated with things like chlor-out so and other things to neutralize the bad stuff in the tap water. It's not babies or even the smaller fish. It's been four large females and one average sized male. I really don't understand what's going on with them, But i really don't want all of them to wind up dead.

I've had this same problem, it's probably one of these two things:
1) the fish are diseased: check for abnormal eating habits, swimming habits(like gasping for air or darting and hitting their little faces) and physical signs like white spots, bumps, cottony-growths. Most are contagious and need to be diagnosed quickly and treated.
2) proper water maitenence levels are not there: you should make sure proper levels, like pH and ammonia, are in check. you can buy something like Freshwater Master Kit that has a bundle of test strips. After a couple months, the pH becomes dangerously basic due to the food and feces if not treated. also, if there is only one snail, are you using other ways to treat the algae?
I used this for diagnosing:

Make sure water temperature is right. Maybe your tank has too much amonia. Have you changed the filter lately, done water changes, etc...? Or maybe they have a disease. Those would be the three reasons why your fish may be dying off.

There are a few species specific virii around, but odds are better by far that it's something to do with your water quality. Check temperature, ammonia, nitrites. It's far more likely it's one of these things and the guppies are just more sensitive to the problem.

Mama guppies tend to eat their babies and have also been know to attack other guppies. You might want to consider getting some plastic plants to help shelter guppies from eachother.
