ok, #1 I do have a heater.
I dont know if this makes sense but the girl at the store said that for a tall tank its nice to get fish that stay on top, in the middle and the bottom. I would rather get fish that get along. and don't need very long swimming space Would a male beta go with harlequin rasboras and tetras? should I put them all in? Like 5 Tetras 4 Harlequin's and 1 male beta ?
Anything else ?????
I'm open to suggestion, Like what and how many of each.

Thanks for the advice.

he is pitch black with small yellow spots on the front half of his body. I cant find any picture of an eel that looks like him. he has the body but color is very odd for any eel i've seen. I've already moved him to a brakish water aquarium and he is doing very well. he eats very well and is very active, but i cant figure out what his exact breed is. I am new to the yahoo answers thing, i can post a picture if i knew how to. thankyou for any help.

i recently added some new fish to my aquarium and i have two dwarf frogs in there too. it appears that one of my fish might be getting ich, but i have heard that several medicines are too strong for dwarf frogs to handle. does anyone know what kind of meds they could handle that could treat ich, or do i need to just remove them all together and put in a quarantine tank for a bit??

can anybody direct me to a site that has full info on how to care for fiddler (or mini) crabs? i just bought one and my room gets kind of cold at night and i'm wondering if i need to take special precautions so he doesn't get too cold :( i don't want to buy one of those special heaters or anything like you do for a reptile (when i bought the crab they told me they were pretty low maintenence.) i'd just leave it alone but i'm a huge softie when it comes to anything having to do with little animals and i just want to make sure he doesn't die. heh

i know their water needs to be kept at 75 to 82 degrees.

i have one of those electric heating pads, would this work or is it a bad idea???

My betta fish hasn't eaten for three days, and has only been floating at the top doinh nothing. In fact, right before I went to school today, he was lying down like he was dead and his mouth was wide open, but when I got back, he was up at the top floating again. Whenever I put my hand on the bowl, he either gives a little twitch, or does nothing. I've had this fish for about 1 year and a half, and he lives in a 1 gallon bowl. He just started doing this three days ago, and he is usually extremely active. Now, he just ignores the food like it isn't there, and he loves to eat. So, how should I take care of my fish so he doesn't "suffer" anymore? I don't like flushing or freezing fish so that's out of the question. This may sound a little wird, but I bury my fish in the ground when they die so that my ground will become better for the plants. I've looked up fish euthanasia websites but none of those methods sound appealing.

When people say "gold gouramis need at least 30 gallons of water", do they mean each gourami needs 30 gallons (i.e. 1 gourami= 30 gal., 2 gouramis= 60 gal.... etc) or a gourami can live in a thirty gallon tank with A FEW other fish that don't require much room? EXPLAIN!!!

Hi, I rescued a betta fish from Wal*mart. The Walmart I live nearby treats it's fish really well. Well, I found two male bettas in the same tank! One was losing horribly, and it's finds were messed up. I got an employee to seperate them. When I saw the condition of the one that lost, I was horrified. It's mesed up fins were literally falling off! I bought it and named him Tank. I also have a male and a female betta along with him (in seperate tanks). But will his fins EVER get better? I am really worried, and he will be a very pretty betta if they get better. His fins that are left are red, and his body blue.

I have a male and a female guppy. The female had gotten quite large. She stayed inside a castle (in my tank) for about 24 hrs. When she came out she was skinny. I think she must have laid eggs. If she did, how long until they hatch? and if she didn't lay eggs, what did she do? Help please.
