Betta fish react to the colour red in their food. Red flakes and Blood worm are favourites for this reason. It is assumed they see that colour particularly well.

The colour of one fish will not necessarily cause another to flare. It is the finnage which prompts this behaviour which is why betta fish attack guppies - they think they are other bettas.

color doesn't afeect fish in ther eating habits. Beta fish react mean to eachother because they see that the other beta has more colorful, and more filled out or frilly fins..... they get jealous.
