The last and first time i changed my tank, i put my fish in a different take so i can clean it and then 3 of them died and my step dad said that im supposed to take them out. But right now my tank is really really really algae infested! all i have in there right now is a Plecostomus (sucker fish).

I've seen them in stores, like the little packets and you "just add water", but what are they?

I was in the fishstore yesterday and I noticed they had a "baby cortez stingray" for sale. Of course the guy working had no useful knowledge on the ray. He just said they need a certain kind of tank (he didn't know what kind) and they are not hearty eaters. I tried researching a little more online, but havent really gotten anywhere. I did see that they may also be called a Pacific Dwarf Stingray. Can anyone help me? I want to know what does it need (what size tank, etc), what does it eat, is it safe to be around other fish? Anything useful would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Jack Dempsey and I have had him about 9 months and for some reason he is swimming in circles upside down there are other fish in the tank with him and they are Jack Dempsey's as well but they don't seem to be having any problems so I dont think nothing is wrong with the water. What do you think is wrong? The pet store says he may be stressed but he looks fine he doesn't have any visible signs of stress it doesn't look like he has been fighting or anything. The aquarium is pretty big (55 gallons) so he has plenty of room. Please tell me whats wrong.

Hi, I am seting up a new 10 gallon hextagon tank in my office, thats the tall diamond shape tank. I am planning to put fresh water fish in I'd like to hear an opion on what type of fish to put in , I have a regular 10 gallon tank at home with three bala shark fish, The pet shops call it tri color shark, and I think they need more of a long span to swim, I know it can use a bigger tank but I find them to be a strong fish and they last longer then any other fish I had in a 10 gallon tank.

I find it interesting that the stores call the tiger barbs semi aggresives , I found them to be aggresive even to there own kind. and the same gose for the kissing gauramees. I would like to hear opions on what type of fish dose well in a tall 10 gallon tank and how many fish would you put???

thank please email me at jackwalz@yahoo.com

I just got 2 black moors last night. I bought one of those round fish bowls for them. I made sure they had clean water and I fed them. This morning I noticed that their bowl seems slightly cloudy already. Do they need their bowl cleaned daily?

What's the difference between green and brown algea? Is there one an algea eater won't touch?

Are their any pro's to having algea in your tank?

Is there any way I can use my plant-food without feeding the algea too?

Can Algea grow on other plants?

thank you!

I've bought goldfish from the petshop and the guy also gave me a jar of "conditioning salts" containing sodium chloride, magnesium sulphate, calcium sulphate, potassium chloride, strontium chloride, potassium bromide, sodium biphosphate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium thiosulphate, methylene blue. Nowhere does it say on the jar whether it is for fresh water or salt water fish.
I asked him if it was for freshwater fish and the answer was yes. The fish is still alive after 10 days, but I'm not entirely convinced that I should be adding this stuff.

When you add the new water (approx 15% of tank volume), do I have to add the dechlorinator and the conditioning salt to the new water and leave it for 24 hours before pouring it into the tank, or can I pour the new water (tap water) straight in and then add the salts and dechlorinator into the tank? The instruction on the bottle is a little ambiguous and seems to suggest the latter method, but it seems wrong to me...
