In my experience many goldfish lose color as they get older -- it may have nothing to do with the tank transfer. That said, is the lighting on the new tank different from the old one?

Most young goldfish are raised in outdoor ponds where they get a lot of sun, and the sun helps them keep their color.

There's a lot of "color enhancing" food on the market but reportedly all you're doing is dyeing your fish with orange pigment from the food... ah well!

Do you have a heater in the new tank? A tetra is a warm water fish, while an oranda is a cold water fish. An oranda, or any type of goldfish, should not be in a heated tank. They will become listless, stop eating, and stop breeding. Not sure about the color thing, though it could be caused by the water temperature.

maybe it's not a pure breed (as in colour)
