My betta fish hasn't eaten for three days, and has only been floating at the top doinh nothing. In fact, right before I went to school today, he was lying down like he was dead and his mouth was wide open, but when I got back, he was up at the top floating again. Whenever I put my hand on the bowl, he either gives a little twitch, or does nothing. I've had this fish for about 1 year and a half, and he lives in a 1 gallon bowl. He just started doing this three days ago, and he is usually extremely active. Now, he just ignores the food like it isn't there, and he loves to eat. So, how should I take care of my fish so he doesn't "suffer" anymore? I don't like flushing or freezing fish so that's out of the question. This may sound a little wird, but I bury my fish in the ground when they die so that my ground will become better for the plants. I've looked up fish euthanasia websites but none of those methods sound appealing.
