it can't be pregnant...because when it's ready to mate the male has to squeeze the eggs out of her then release his fluid to fertalize them, then they will hatch, and if it was wtih a male it would of been dead, because they usually kill them. The breeding process is really brutal..

The female bettas I have seen that were full of eggs usually were big and round farther back towards their tail. Right under her gills seems too far in front to be eggs. Is she acting normal? Although I can't begin to guess what it could be without even seeing her, I wouldn't guess it to be eggs. And please DON'T just put a male in there to see. Breeding bettas is much more difficult than that. :-)

uh oh! this could be serious! I have female bettas for myself and when there is a large buldge below the gill area, that usually means that it has an infection! NOT preagnant! I would find treatment immediatly, she coud die/infect the other fish in your tank! Look on some sites like http://bettatalk.com/betta_diseases.htm they help me out a lot!

The pet store must have lied to you about the other betta being a female! Or do you by chance have less fish in your tank now than when you first got your fish?

it can be preggas as the female does not need a male 2 become preggars, if the female has been like this 4 a while it may be due 2 the food she is eating ie:2 much or she may be preggars
