What do you think about a set up like this for a new 10 gallon hexagon tank?

ok, #1 I do have a heater.
I dont know if this makes sense but the girl at the store said that for a tall tank its nice to get fish that stay on top, in the middle and the bottom. I would rather get fish that get along. and don't need very long swimming space Would a male beta go with harlequin rasboras and tetras? should I put them all in? Like 5 Tetras 4 Harlequin's and 1 male beta ?
Anything else ?????
I'm open to suggestion, Like what and how many of each.

Tetras and Rasboras are less stressed and school better in groups of 6 or more, especially if there is a larger fish in the aquarium like the beta. I'd pick either the Tetras or the Harlequin Rasboras and get 6 of them, and then add the beta. The beta will be fine with either group of fish (it is very unlikely they will eat the tetras unless you buy some that are much smaller than normal, or you buy a beta that is much larger than normal). I would suggest smaller tetras over the rasboras for a 10 gallon, because the rasboras get up to 2" each which fills your maximum bioload very quickly. FYI, five small tetras is 7 inches of fish, four harlequin rasboras is 8 inches of fish, and one beta is 3 inches of fish, which would really be balanced best in a 20 gallon aquarium.

Remember the rule of 1 inch of fish per gallon, ten gallons is on the smaller side so beware of a too high bioload which will lead to fish deaths. Which type of tetras are you gonna get? Neons are about the smallest but they school better when they have longer distances to dart across. So maybe check a couple of fish sites and make sure. The Betta will be fine. In nature they are used to anything from a tiny little puddle-sized poole to a rice paddy.

Zebra Danios usually like the top and fill your tank up with live plants tall and short. Lay down a good substrate first, create a good landscape not a flat one, add some rocks and wood. Keep a Albino Cory catfish and a Kouli Loach, make a small cave. Remember not to over stock your tank. Ten Gal = 10 small fish. Neon Tetras are good too. Don't get anything that wll grow big later on unless you plan on a larger tank. Don't overfeed and change out 25% of the water every couple of months. Use bottled spring water.

Betta's won't do well with anything that looks like them. If you put them in with other fish, make sure they are smaller than they are. 10 small fish per 10 gallons. I reccomend the algae eating bottom fish, sorry forgot the name of it.
