I was just given a white Korean jindo puppy this past tuesday and I am told it is a pure breed but in need of some assurance. I am just checking off all the posibillities of it not being a pure breed. She is an all white dog with dirty pink nose and I have read pure breed have black nose. Maybe because she is still a 8 week old puppy? So far it displays all the personalities of a jindo, smart, patient, dominent, and curious.

I have 2 dogs. while one was on a leash the other younger one attacked violently not stopping until dragged away. We then locked the dog that attacked away until the other one healed. She then got out to attack the other one again this time worse. Why would this happen she has never been aggressive before and we have had them for 8 months.

He seems obsessed with licking and chewing his front paws. Has not gnawed any fur off but worried that he will. Do I use bitter apple as a deterrent or is there an underlying medical condition. He is 9 months old. He has been groomed by professionals with careful attention to his paws. Been going on for about a week.

We were thinking about buying this food for our dogs, but when I asked about dog food previously, 6 people gave this suggestion a thumbs down.. any particular reason? Upon comparison, it is pretty much the only food I can find around here that has meat as the first ingredient... just wondering about it..

I have a lovely spaniel...family pet..purchased him from a proper breeder.
I was speaking to someone who mentioned they were a nice breed apart from those with springer rage.
Has anyone heard of this?
Having kids in the house i am a bit concerned.
He is 2 now and has always been fantastic with kids.

My question about my female German Shepherd's cycle received several very helpful answers and I wanted to thank everyone for their responses. To the lady who said I was irresponsible I'd like to point out that's not the case. We have had dogs for many years but decided when our last one died we would not have any more. However, the family thought otherwise and presented us with a very beautiful white German shepherd puppy. Although I don't know much about female dogs I am very willing to learn and the intention was to have her speyed when she was old enough. We did not expect her to come into season at 10 months. Rest assured, this dog will be looked after AND loved.

My fiance and I just got us a puppy. He is part boxer part redbone coonhound. We got him 3 days ago and he had just turned 6 weeks old. Now that you have the background here is my questions/concerns. Since he is still so little and the nights are still pretty cold here I'm keeping him inside. The problem we are having is that my fiance works days and I am currently working nights and we are trying to figure out how to adjust the puppy to our schedules and keep him from "crying" at all hours. I understand that he isn't used to being alone etc. but I have tried everything that has worked with my past pets with no success. Also I was wondering how early is too early to start training (as far as sit/stay/lie down) and what are some of the best methods of house training? My dad usually handled those parts of the deal so I'm new to the whole training aspect. ANY help is appreciated!!! Thanx!!!

He is generally well and appears happy - we have another dog and they get on well. Nothing has changed which could have caused stress etc - as far as we know. We just don't know why he has started messing. Any advise?

Crux, is a very smart 5 mo. old AUS cattle dog. I know that submissive peeing can be a result of being a puppy but he seems to have trouble while we are asking him to do tricks. (He has the hang of basics) I understand that he may not know what we want so we don't get upset and give him positive tones to encourage him to continue trying but he still cowers. He's also getting into a habit of laying down and then peeing in that position during the training. He knows laying down is good (so we praise him) and he knows peeing inside is bad but he'll start to pee while we praise him for 'lay down.' I can't figure out how to discourage this combination. While giving him a calm command he acts submissive. Should I take this cue and stop training before he urinates or keep encouraging him until we're both frustrated and he's peed? I don't want him to associate peeing with 'getting out of learning' but I'm getting too scared to train him further for fear of making it worse.

So my dog is very bad seperation anxiety...Ive tried everything! Crate training, the desenistization theory, bitter apple on everything, VALIUM (the vet prescribed him for his anxiety)...EVERYTHING! and nothing has stopped him from freaking out and barking the whole time I am gone.. So the vet has suggested I meet with this Behavior Therapist for dogs and she will help... I talked to her and she charges $125 for a house call where she will "teach me a few excercises to get rid of this anxiety"...She has a PhD and is very top of the line but my parents, friends, and everyone that i know that has a dog says his destructive behavior is very normal since he still is a puppy (5 months). Every person that I have talked to says I should just let him suffer and eventually he will get used to being alone sometimes... $125 is ALOT of money for me right now and I am debating on whethere to meet with the trainer...or just let him suffer until things resolve by themselves? What do u guys think?

We've only had our cocker spaniel for one week but I need to stop him gnawing and growling at my trousers every morning and every evening. He grabs and chews on them, he has toys but he's so crazy. He'll do anything to bite and scratch his teeth and it hurts and I get angry

I was thinking of getting a lab when i'm older but was wondering; are labs better than goldens? I am also doing a report on a dog breed in school and i wanted 2 do it on the labrador retriever or golden retriever.

by 'better' i mean more kind, and easier to look after. plz dont list other dog breeds as i want to stick with these 2.
