Hello Everyone! My grandmother wants a dog. My grandfather passed away in Jan of 05, and she is quite lonely. She has had some dogs before, usually mixed breeds. My aunt recently got a yorkie puppy, and she just adores her. My grandmother is pretty active, can get around fine. She has been asking for us to look for a dog for her. We have a lab, she loves him, but says she wants a small dog. She has a fenced in backyard, and lives all by herself. She says she would like something my aunt's yorkie, but that it doesn't have to be the same. I was thinking of a Westie, a Yorkie, a Dauschund, something small, being petted, playing some ball, really being a companion. We're going to try the local shelters, but want to be set on a breed before we go so she doens't end up with a dog she can't handle. I've always owned larger dogs, labradors, dobermans. She's like somehting small that will keep her company and will be happy being a lap dog. Please let me know what you think!

We adopted a 5 mo. old female Pug yesterday. She, so far seems to be adjusting very well to her new home. Have only had 1 potty accident, and seems very eager to please. Are there any Pug parents that would have any general suggestions to training her, and making her a happy loving baby girl? She is very loveable but...also very very high energy, which is ok with us....we have kids to help keep her entertained.....Thanks for any suggestions anyone has to offer!

I took a few pictures at the darkness and in the picture (my phone had no flash) there was a bright straight light…. Scary huh??? Can Dogs see things we can’t????

7 month old pup. Whenever I walk my dog she takes it upon herself to eat whatever she finds on her way. I am not sure how to correct this. I pull on her leash everytime she does this. Does anyone else have the same problem? Any suggestions?

I just adopted a small dog and brought him home. He was abused and I knew he would have some trouble adjusting but he took to me and my roommate very well. The only thing is that he is a gift for my mom and when I let her see him he was very nervous and hid from her. When she tried to take him for a walk he got aggressive and growled at her and tried to bite her. She really wants a dog and she absolutely loves him but she cant get close to him. I dont know what to do. I dont want to take him back because he might be put to sleep, can anyone help me? How can I get him used to my mom so that he can be the companion she needs and he can get the love and attention he needs?

I have a dog website, and am looking to extend it it many ways...
It has recently jad a 'facelift' but visitor numbers fell, and now i am in the middle of reviving the site. I was wondering, if anyone has a young puppy, upto 6months, if they wish to share their progress on my website in a 'puppy diary'. What i am looking for is a 6 month period of pictures and paragraphs following your dogs' life into adult hood, so if you are willing to give me insght and pictures, i will put your 'puppy diary' onto the web and people can see the progress... If you would kindly leave your e-mail address in your answer along with a breif description of your dog and i will contact you within hours, thankyou, your co-operation is very kind...

My dog was a stray. Right after she arrived at my house, she gave birth to 3 stillborn puppies. After that, I brought her to the vet to have her checked out. I was already attached and had decided to keep her. He said that she was positive for heartworms so I decided to have her treated. That was 3 years ago and since then she's been on a heartworm preventive and I've had her spayed. Will her having a history of heartworms shorten her lifespan?

we took her out the other day and all was well ahe had a fab little run playing with my two boxers. However once we got her home about an hr later she was going mad - running all over the house and she kept kicking her feet behind her as some dogs do trying to cover their scent. She also kept on biting her feet as if something was irritating them and trying to lick her bum she was in some kind of discomfort. Any idea's she seems fine now but it was a bit worrying as we couldn't calm her down?

I'm looking for either a website or a pricing guide that lets me know current running rates for dogs of all breeds. Does anyone know of a website similar to kelley blue book, but for dogs??!! Any book would also be helpful. A little disclaimer, I'm all for pound dogs and that is likely where I will get my next one, but I was just curious about prices. Thanks for the help!

My boyfriend just this weekend gave me a 6 week Jack Russell Terrier. Now I have had other breeds of dogs before but not this one. I have read what I could on them but I am still wanting to make sure there is nothing else I need to know about them. The potty training is going well and she is eating and drinking. The one thing I have noticed is her separation anxiety. Is that normal for her breed or is it because she was just pulled away from the litter. When I am at work, I place her and all her toys and etc in the bathroom along with a radio to make noise for her. But she still crys when I leave. Is that normal for her breed? Am I doing all this right for her type of breed? I want to make sure she grows healthy mentally and physically. Thanks.
