7 month old pup. Whenever I walk my dog she takes it upon herself to eat whatever she finds on her way. I am not sure how to correct this. I pull on her leash everytime she does this. Does anyone else have the same problem? Any suggestions?

All dogs do this. Just tug her along gently, or lift her up in your arms and take a few steps away.

You must teach your pup a command to associate with not eating things off the ground. The command that I use is "Leave It," but it can be anything you want to use -- just keep the command short & sweet.

You must also teach your pup a command to associate with dropping whatever is in her mouth. The command that I use is "Drop It," but again, it can be anything you want to use.

Both commands must be obeyed. So you want to use a sharp, crisp voice with your commands. No yelling! But not wishy-washy either.

With the "Leave It" type command, you have to be looking ahead of your pup. Watching out for everything. You have to give the command and the slight tug on the lead BEFORE she gets the object in her mouth.

If you are too early, she won't understand what you are trying to tell her.

If you are too late, then you must teach the "Drop It" type command. For this, you kneel to her level and tell her firmly, "Drop It" and then immediately remove the object from her mouth. This is not a game. She must not confuse this with play time or tug of war. Hold the leash firmly so she cannot run away. And promptly remove the object.

Praise lavishly in your higher pitched "Good Girl" voice.

There are a few things you can do. I did a few things with my dog. First thing is not let him have ANYTHING without you giving it to him. Dinner time, make him sit, stay, and fill his dinner dish. Make him wait, then release. Do this everytime, making each time longer and longer. Do this with treats too. That way he has to get "permission" from you to have it. Also, you can do this with toys, throw his ball, make him wait, and then release. This also means not throwing him scrapes from the table or treats to the floor, its important to hand them too him so he doens't get confused. You could also set him up, get some of the bitter spray, spray the object with the bitter spray, and let him go at it. Most likely he'll be grossed out, and after a few times will learn his lesson. (My dog actually LIKED that stuff, so it may not work). These are just a few ideas I've had and tried. Hope it helps!

Hello I have had some dogs like that more than one! What worked best with me is, we never left him alone. and if we caught him chewing something we would just make a loud weird noise to stop him then we took it away and told him no in a mean voice. If that don't work go to animalplanet.com and ask for better advice.
