My 6 month old Yorkie pup is not letting me know that she has to potty when she is allowed to roam the house. When She is in the crate, she will bark and such. But if she is not in the crate, and let's say walking around the kitchen, she would squat right in front of me!! How can I get her to give me a signal that she has to go? Are my expectations too high? Is this a respect issue??

Other info:

She is alone about 4 hours a day 3 days a week. During that time, she is in the spacious laundry room with her crate and water and a peepee pad. She has numerous toys and we leave the tv on so she doesnt get lonely. she doesnt have accidents on the floor as long as she has the pad.

They have glucosamine specifically for dogs, and I was wondering if there was any difference between the two.

My favorite dog had puppies and we're keeping the biggest female, we live in the country so I want to train her to go and chase things (rabbits, squirrels, racoons, ducks, ect ect) but then stop and come to me when I tell her. She is still a baby (she just opened her eyes) but I still want to train her really early.
The mom is a very hiper-active dog that is HUGE! So I want to train the baby as much as I can so she won't hurt anyone when she's older. Got any suggestions?

My dog is obsessed with eating. I know, I know, dogs love to eat!! But my dog has to be restrained at night or he will open cabinet doors and eat anything and everything, including but not limited to coffee, chicken boullion, soymilk, flour, oatmeal, nuts and the list goes on. He isn't food deprived either, he eats very nutrional high grade dog food, He's not underweight, The vet says he is in perfect shape for his age. I've had this dog since he was 3 months old and this is a problem we've had since we got him. What can be done to stop this habit, I'm afraid he will poison himself. He's already torn open a box of roach motels and digested them.

The Animal Rights movement is trying to pass legislation all over the United States, in state legislatures to ban home breeding. Most of these proposals mandate that all dogs and puppies be raised on surfaces that are impervious to water. This would place puppies in kennels where they could not have the close attention and watch of the people that raise them in homes. It would also mean that they would not be allowed to rest on towels, blankets, sheets etc. even as infant puppies.

Please watch the video at this link and then answer the question should all dogs only be allowed to be raised in Commercial USDA kennels and not be allowed to be raised in private homes at all?

do you think it is important to teach a dog how to sit when they learn the here command?

So that when you tell them to "here" then the dog comes to you and sits? Or is that not important? If it is then how do you teach that without saying sit once they get to you?

Any suggestions on how to teach the "here" command?

HI,

I was wondering if anyone has had an older dog die in his sleep when he seemed fairly healthy. I think the hardest part of an animales death is the mystery as to what happened. He was a 15 year old westie and did show signs of age. He had been deaf for about 3 years and recently started seeming a little confused and didnt like going on walks anymore, he slept a lot. But never seemed sick or in pain. Over the past few weeks he started peeing a lot and was peeing in the house.. this was odd for him. I put him on my bed one night and he just peed and didnt seem to think much of it. I made an appointment at the vet but he passed before the appointment. I took him to the beach a few days before and he seemed good.. he walked and looked happy and hung out the window in the car like he loved. Is it normal for an older dog to just die in his sleep? When I came home he looked like he was laying in one of his normal positions sleeping .. there was nothing around to indicate he was sick.

I have a 4 month old mini schnauzer puppy. At one point he couldnt get enough of eating, but now its like a chore to get him to finish his food and he's eating but not as much as he should be. He was eating pedigree soft food at first, then we gave him some california natural dry food. He really liked it at first and stopped eating the soft food, but now he's not excited about eating at all. What can i do? Ps we take regular trips to the vet, he's not sick

We have a 3mo old pit bull female. We got her at 5 weeks. We can't figure out what her problem is. Do female dogs have a harder time holding it than males or what? We have tried everything from taking he out walking around with her, asking her then taking her out, giving treats when she does go outside,we've put pads down nothing is woking. We can leave her outside for awhile,10,20 min. she'll come in the house and pee. When we first started she was going to the door and whineing and we thought that was it we did it, but everytime she would get excited or after playing with the kids it didn't matter where she was she'd squat and go. She will go to the back door but she won't wait. She can be walking up the hall she'll just squat no warning. We kennel her at night so we know she can hold it for a couple of hours. What is her problem? I've never had a female before and I would hate to get rid of her, but we've about had it. She's a smart dog, but very stubburn. Please no stupid anwsers!
