The Animal Rights movement is trying to pass legislation all over the United States, in state legislatures to ban home breeding. Most of these proposals mandate that all dogs and puppies be raised on surfaces that are impervious to water. This would place puppies in kennels where they could not have the close attention and watch of the people that raise them in homes. It would also mean that they would not be allowed to rest on towels, blankets, sheets etc. even as infant puppies.

Please watch the video at this link and then answer the question should all dogs only be allowed to be raised in Commercial USDA kennels and not be allowed to be raised in private homes at all?

Thank you for getting the word out. People need to think not just twice, but three or four times before supporting legislation such as these.

This is an issue that animal lovers across the country need to be aware of and stand up for. These so called "Licensed Kennels" AKA Puppy Mills are not the ideal situation for adults or puppies. This type of breeding is done purely for profit with no interest to the dog. Human contact is limited, poor sanitation, numerous health problems that are not prescreened prior to breeding are just a few problems. Don't forget about future behavior problems with the dog. Future dog owners are encouraged to stay away from Pet Stores and Backyard breeders, go to a breeder who genuinely cares for the breed. It may take you longer to find a dog but you will be happier in the end.

Absolutely dogs should be raised in homes rather than kennels.
Not only the socialization factor, but the thing is, out of sight out of mind. It's easier to ignore problems, when you aren't seeing
them all the time. A dirty kennel you can't see is easy to leave til later. Puppies raised in the house, it's a whole lot harder for them to be living in filth. Disease would be noticed quicker when the dogs are in the house, health issues, everything... How long would the heat be off in the kennel in the winter, before someone might realize it??? I notice immediately if we have no heat in the house..

Puppies should be raised in homes where they can get the socialization needed to become good pets. Though I do think there should be some sort of permit or something required to breed dogs. Some places, like where my mom got her Pomeranian shouldn't be allowed to breed dogs. the puppies were in the front yard without water, food or supervision. They were dirty and smelled like urine. Most of them wouldn't come near anyone INCLUDING the owners. We probably shouldn't have bought from them but he was the best pup of the bunch and we didn't want to leave him there, as a consequence though he is a very timid pup, luckily with out an aggressive bone in his body. I think he was severely neglected and doesn't know how to deal with attention even as he wallows in it, when you call him he crawls towards you on his belly.

HOMES!!!! These dogs are supposed to live in our homes their entire lives. We do them and ourselves a great disservice if we treat them like cattle or even pigs (have you ever seen how they raise pigs? Mom can't even turn around, only lie down and let the piglets nurse). A puppy needs to be exposed to surfaces, sounds, and activities found in our homes. I believe that the number of dogs in shelters will go up dramatically if they are raised in institutions because they can't adjust to life in a home (and many many many more would die from stress of transport and later behavioral problems).

Dogs are compainion animals. They need to be treated as such.

i think that would be a cold hearted thing to do, i cant understand why they would want to instill that kind of anti-social behavior into dogs. many breeds need alot of socialization as puppies so that they don't become a danger to humans. if people want a robotically altered dog then go to the toy section in wal mart, by a $20 dollar battery operated puppy.

It would be better for you to raise them in a house, but you should raise them wherever there is a heat lamp and wherever their mother is.
