I have 2 dogs. while one was on a leash the other younger one attacked violently not stopping until dragged away. We then locked the dog that attacked away until the other one healed. She then got out to attack the other one again this time worse. Why would this happen she has never been aggressive before and we have had them for 8 months.

Sometimes a certain smell picked up whether it be from walking them seperately...ect... However, yes, it is unusual it attacked being that they have been together previously. Sometimes, animals have what is called a "pecking order". It's used to establish the leader in the pack...the strongest one. While most will not do anything more than a growl & show their teeth and hair...some could attack-not saying they intentionally were trying to do harm, but then again, perhaps they are. Another true reason for attacks, is animals have a far greater since then humans. When one animal is sick, the other will bark at it or turn away from it...giving the cold shoulder,,,even attacking. It's nature's way of weaving out the strong from the weak. Even if they have always been alright together. I would strongly suggest talking to the vet,,,perhaps even a health check on both. If the attacks continue...go to a behavior trainer, because the problem could eventually hurt either very badly, or someone you know.

If they are now about 8 to 10 months they are now becomming fully mature. They are going to fight for the top position.
If these dogs are the same sex you have same sex aggression and it can be fatal. They may fight until one kills the other. Two females can be worse than males sometimes.
Depending on breed you may need to either keep these dogs seperate or place one in another home.
If they are litter mates or mom and daughter keep in mind that means nothing to dogs. They are going to fight for alpha position and if one does not give up you could have a dead dog.

first off make sure your dogs a neutered.... I had this happen when I brought a blk lab male into my home with 2 male doxies... eventually after over $5,000.00 in vet bills I had no choice but to get rid of my 2 male doxies.. I'm not sure you dog isn't developing aggression...only other thing you could do is go to the best trainer you can find and see if he /she can socialite them more but not likely....

The one that is aggressive could be ill but not nessessaraliy
some times male and female one being casterated or spayed could cause this attitude change. Take them to the vet .

Beat the **** out of them. Mine do that too. I think it's a "I'm in charge here, **** you." Kind of thing. Every time one jumps on the other, knock the **** out of it. It'll learn.
