YES!!!
I'm an RSPCA volunteer in my local area and I find things like this disgusting!!
- Maybe try getting other people you know that know about it to make a complaint too.. as the more thy get the better the case they have against the offenders.
People like that shouldn't be aloud to have pets!
I'm sorry but this type of thing really gets my back up and makes me sooo mad!
If you haven't got the time or the patience for a dog: DON'T GET ONE!! - it's that simple really.... there are NO excuses for this and it should be re-homed to someone who would love it a care for it in the respect it deserves!

Hope it all goes well... and don't worry.. you can remain anonymous for your call.

xx

Although the RSPCA do sell cages to the public, I don't think they would like this type of cruelty. The dog should have access to water & if there isn't any in the cage, this could be an issue. I have friends that work at the RSPCA & I think they would think a big dog in a small cage is unacceptable. If he is a young dog it will affect his growth & his mental state. I had the same situation with a GSD that I had too look after for a weekend. She couldn't sit up or turn round in her cage. I found a very large cage on ebay & told them about it. It was only £32 with £8 delivery. They told me to get it for them, They are very pleased with it, but more important the dog can walk around & sit up straight. You have maybe approached the situation in the wrong way with the owners. They won't give him more time just because you say so.It sounds as though they are not interested in his welfare at all. I would phone the rspca & let them go & see for themselves. The owners will have the option of signing him over. They probaly don't want him anymore anyway. If they do they will follow the advice of the rspca & get a bigger cage. At least you will have done something to improve his miserable life.

I believe the law has just been changed about the ownership of animals.

The owners now have a lawful duty of care for any animal they own. The animal needs to be fed correctly and given regular exercise.

The RSPCA will be able to advise you on whether what your neigbours are doing is legal.

My Brother-in-law keeps his dog in a cage during the day. The big difference is the cage measures 8' x 8'. There is shelter and the dog is given plenty of water.

At night the dog is let out to join the rest of the family. I am not happy with this situation, but he is not breaking any laws.

You are wasting time asking questions. Report it now! The RSPCA won't tell your neighbours it was you. The poor dog deserves a better life running around and doing doggy stuff than being locked up in a cage. Please call asap. It looks apparent that you are the only person who is able to help this poor animal. Don't let him down, take action.

In my experience, the RSPCA aren't exactly what they seem in the television programmes. Phone them, time and time again if necessary, and make sure they pay a visit. Just reading your notice has given me the creeps. Why get a dog and leave it in a cage all day? Even if nothing comes of it, you'll have peace of mind that you've done all you can. Make the phone call and nag them until they visit. Good luck - it would break my heart too.

If he can't lie down or stand up then he is going to be in pain and extremely distressed. I would definitely phone the RSPCA, even if they don't think the case merits removing the dog from the home, they will give the owner a stern talking to which might make them buck up their ideas.

I guess the only thing is that chances are they'll figure out who called them, but I'm sure you'd rather stop the suffering of the dog.

Take a few pictures and/or a short video of the dog IN the cage and take that to the RSPCA. These people do not deserve to own a dog, or any pet at all! I am surprised that they actually loom after their horses.

How do you know your neighbours keep him in a cage all day? Cages can be used for various things. It may be that the dog has back problems and their vet has advised cage rest!!!!!!!! Be sure of your facts before alterting the rspca over something that is being done for the dogs health.

Yes, you should report it. Generally the rules for a puppy or training cage are that the dog has to be able to stand up straight and turn around comfortably. He should also have food and water in there. Also they are not meant just for keeping the dog in all the time. I have one for my puppy, and she goes in it when i go out, so she doesn't hurt herself or chew holes in my walls. But she has food and water and a bed in there and it is more than big enough. But you say this big dog hasn't got enough room in his, and is in there all the time. So this is neglect. Please make sure you definately have the facts right though, and then call the rspca to check it out.

yes you should. The poor dog. All dogs need regular excercise and this dog must be so frustrated and unhappy, this is very cruel and people like that do not deserve a pet. You must get in touch with the rspca. You will be doing the right thing
