We've only had our cocker spaniel for one week but I need to stop him gnawing and growling at my trousers every morning and every evening. He grabs and chews on them, he has toys but he's so crazy. He'll do anything to bite and scratch his teeth and it hurts and I get angry

You always try the most positive method first:
Some ideas for discouraging finger chewing: when your puppy clamps down, let out a very loud YELP in imitation of a hurt puppy. Then, fold your arms and ignore him for 10 minutes. With very young puppies, this sometimes works wonders - it's the same thing that happens when they get too rough with another puppy. The wounded puppy yelps and runs off, refusing to play for a bit. The yelp must be startling enough to stop the behavior.

That should do the trick, unless she is prey driven, . however, if it doesn't fix the problem this will work:

To introduce an element of "natural discipline", grasp the recalcitrant pup with one hand, place your other hand over the top of his muzzle, gently pressing his muzzle towards his chest as you say, in a low, growly tone of voice, "No BITE". If they begin to throw a tantrum and thrash around trying to bite, just hold the line until they "give in" and "say uncle" (quit resisting). You should not find it necessary to get aggressive with a young puppy. Simple restraint is usually enough to get the message across.

he is a puppy its what puppies do you need to teach him right from wrong the second he does something wrong let him him know tell him "no". You also need to let him know when he is doing write by gnawing on his bone praise him! Another suggestion is to go out and get yourself a big water gun sou nds crazy but it works when he does something wrong spray him it will startle him and he will stop again tell him NO i have two big German shepherds and when i was Training them it worked Note: do not spray his face and especially not his ears water in the ears can cause an infection good luck and try and obedience class its fun for you and the dog!

Your dog is probably teething. When it chews on something you don't want it to, you have to say "No! Bad!" in a firm voice. Then give it something else to chew and give it a lot of praise.

i think you should give him ur extra pants which you dont need and let him chew it .after some time he'll get bored and never again come to for ur pants.
if this does not work then just be little hard on him and give other things to him.maybe that will stop him

you should have thought of this before you got him. puppies are playful. tell him no, and squirt him in the butt with a squirt bottle. take him to obedience classes. he is yours now, so take care of him.
