We are trying to socialize our 9 month old mini schnauzer and he doesn't get to interact or play with many other dogs. (Most of his socialization thus far is in puppy class where they are not permitted to play). How do I know when a dog is "playing" with another dog and when they are being too aggressive? I am concerned when he plays with smaller dogs he may be too rough because he doesn't know better yet....

He is an 8 year old American bulldog and has bone cancer in his front left leg. My vet said she can remove the leg an that will buy him another 6 to 8 months or so but thats it. The problem is his front end is twice as large as his rear end and I don't think he'll have good mobility as other dogs would.

I read that there are special medicines and diets that can slow down the spreading and help out with the pain. Don't get me wrong, I will put him dowm when I have to but I want to keep around as long as I can and as long as hes is not hurting. He is still so young at heart.

Please help...
Please

This morning my dog had a swollen spot above her left eye and another on her right cheek. They looked like possibly bug bites. I gave her benadryl and iced the spot above her eye. By afternoon they seemed to be ok. But this evening her whole left side of her face is swollen and part of her right side too. Could this be an allergic reaction to something or a bug bite or what?

I haven't changed her food or anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will take her to the vet tomorrow if it's no better but was just curious if anyone else could come up with something.

She's acting fine and eating fine. She doesn't seem to even notice the swelling. Any ideas?

How big do they get? What do they look like? I saw this picture of one and it was really cute, but it was a puppy, and of course it was cute, all puppies are cute. I want to know if they are cute when they are full-grown. Any comments or suggestions would be great. Thanks

Why do you feel the need to take your dog(s) everywhere you go. I see them in the mall, when I am buying food. I have even seen them when my family & I have gone out to eat. It is illegal to take an animal into these places. And I have a feeling that most of you know this. So , why disobey the law???? Why do you need to bring your small dog into these places? Why can't you just leave them at home???

Repeat after me: IT IS A DOG!

The little guy was found in a dumpster from what I understand, and is estimated at less than a week old *eyes and ears still closed* My neighbor was told by the "vet" that goat's milk is better. I question this guy's judgment, as he's the kind of vet you walk in, say "what's wrong with my dog?" and he replies "you tell me" and he's not joking. Dog could have blood gushing from his eyeballs and the vet could still be clueless. *i do not like this guy, and the bloody eyes is an exageration. i think*

Anyways, goat's milk better than puppy formula?

I repeat, puppy is a foundling, and has survived since Tuesday, so I guess she's doing something right.

I have a 9 mos. yellow lab (Rosie) and she is sooo hyper it's ridiculous. I've read it's safe to give Benadryl (weight appropriate) to calm her down. GeeeeZ! She is my second labrador and they broke the mold when she was born. What else could I give her that would act as a calming agent??

If all the people telling you that you should spay or neuter your pets aren't get through to you, maybe, just maybe, putting a little bit of the reality in your faces will.

If you are thinking about breeding your pet, please watch these videos first. Go volunteer at a shelter for awhile after that, and then come back and tell me there isn't an overpopulation problem, and you should still breed your pet for the "OMGZ cuuuuute puppiez" Or she's so pretty, or so smart etc reasons.

If you are thinking about getting one of those "designer" dogs, please watch these videos, and tell me why you should support the breeding of these mutts. There are dogs already alive that could use a good home. A designer dog isn't a breed, its a mutt. Go to your shelter and get one. Tell me how you can resist the faces of the dogs in these videos. Just because they are from a shelter?

Right now we're feeding Eukanuba, mostly because we were nearly out of the Nutro stuff and couldn't make it to Petsmart. Now, I know neither of these are very good, but we were instructed that the Nutro stuff *natural choice* was the best at Petsmart.

I know of four places to get dog-food. Grocery store *no* pet store *no* petsmart *no* and the vet *aparantly no, too*

Now, I guess I should go ahead and ask what the BEST food for my 4-ish month old papillon puppy. So put that in question form and answer it.

And then, all important, WHERE can I buy it? Internet is an option, I s'pose.

My lab is nine and it seems like he needs a little something to take the edge off for his arthritis. He also chewed a big thing on his leg and it looks like an open wound and it's all swollen. Can I give him asprin?

I just got a dog about a 1 1/2 years old from the humane society, he's mixed with a breed that I dont remember and a kind of pointer dog. he's really friendly and happy and hyper. He gets into everything when we're not home, the other day he chewed into my black rug, he destroyed his bed, and I was just gone under 30 minutes and he chewed up my new sandals, and got into the laffy taffy bag. he normally leaves everything alone unless its in a bag, or bunched up [like the rug was]. how do I stop this behavior and how do I go about punishing him to the point where he wont do it again. he has his own toys but he seems to like other peoples things like cell phones.

My 2 year old mutt has been limping bad..his front left paw.
We think it could have been because of any of these:
Falling down the front steps
Getting his paw [accidentally] shut in the door
Getting pushed down the slide [Stupid Terry!!]

We have him scheduled for the vet this week. If anybody has any idea what it could be please answer. Im so worried =( Thank You
