Um, yeah.
Labs are a very active breed. Instead of drugging your dog, how about a little more exercise and some training. That's a much better solution than drugging your pet.

I don't know about any calming agents... but I'm just like you!!! I have a female yellow 6-7 months old lab... Ok!! I can't calm her down!!! Today she broke her water container!!!! and she ended with her tennis ball fast... and with a soccer ball too!! the only toy that has survived is her duck plushie (but is missing though)...
She is totally a disaster... well, she is kinda obedient sometimes, but just if you have a cookie to give her when she obeys :p!!! If you don't have any cookies and give her a command she gets more hyper ... I dont know how to controll her!!!
And she has an ear infection so I have to give her 2 medicine pills a day... Imagine that!!!

Labs are a hyper breed. They are working dogs. I'm not sure whether or you run her much, but perhaps wearing her out will help. I have a 2 year old Boxer, another hyper breed, and whenever she goes into her tazmanian devil moods we hop on a bike and make her chase us around the block. Or we throw the Frisbee for her. She loves the attention and the exercise. She's a puppy, she'll grow out of it in a few years.
If she does have allergy problems, however, benedryl is okay to give to her. Especially if she is allergic to bees. I keep benedryl with me at all times just in case one of my dogs has an allergic reaction. It works wonders when they need it as an antihistamine.

There's a pill you can have prescribed at the vet called Acepromazine. Benedryl only works as a temporary agent. She needs to go to obedient school. I know this sounds bad, but sometimes, it's not the dog, it's the owner meaning you need to show her who's boss and have her calm down with punishment (crate training, etc.).
Reminds me of the book 'Marley and Me' you should read it, it's great!

Labs are naturally energetic- they are a working breed, and they needed that energy to do their work. That's the risk you take when you get a Lab.
If Rosie is really too much to handle, get hold of your vet, they may have some ideas for you.

OM Goodness... just spend some time throwing a ball for your dog.. to save yourself from too much excercise use 2 balls.. throw one and as she comes back as soon as she drops one then throw the other out for her. She needs to get rid of all that energy .. calm her with play rather than drugs.
You might also find a dog that is falling inlove with you as you throw that ball... called bonding
GOOD LUCK

I wouldn't give her anything...your not dealing with the true problem. She needs disipline, that's all. Some dogs are more hyper then others and need a little more attention. She's still young, try to bear with her.

I think you have 2 posts open. I saw the other post first. My dog is a lab. and he is nuts. People told us he would grow out of it. and seriously, stick with it, b/c now after 3 years he is the best dog (most of the time). I agree, play fetch, run with the dog, bike with the dog. exercise it. We used to run with our dog 3 miles in the morning and he would still be ready to play. another thing....doggie daycare. daycare wore him out.

Labs tend to behave that way for three years. Don't drug her. Just get her out to run everyday and be patient until she calms down.

I HAVE A DOG JUST LIKE THAT! all you need to do is give it excercise. talk it for a walk----more than around the block. a long one or go into your backyard and throw balls to it for 1/2 an hour. give it attention or put it in it's crate for some nap time. give your dog some attention!!!!!!!!!!!!
