The little guy was found in a dumpster from what I understand, and is estimated at less than a week old *eyes and ears still closed* My neighbor was told by the "vet" that goat's milk is better. I question this guy's judgment, as he's the kind of vet you walk in, say "what's wrong with my dog?" and he replies "you tell me" and he's not joking. Dog could have blood gushing from his eyeballs and the vet could still be clueless. *i do not like this guy, and the bloody eyes is an exageration. i think*

Anyways, goat's milk better than puppy formula?

I repeat, puppy is a foundling, and has survived since Tuesday, so I guess she's doing something right.

Goats milk is very good. Esblac or puppy formula used to be missing an ingredient that was needed to prevent cataracts later in life but I understand Esblac has corrected that problem. With goats milk it was never an issue. If you want to see more weight gain you can add some cooked egg yoke (only the yoke at this age) for fat content.

While I'm not exactly sure if it is better than formula, I do know that goats milk is a healthy substitution for a mothers milk. I grew up on a farm where we raised German Shepherds. We used goats milk for a litter of pups whose mom died, and they all grew up healthy. Our vet recommended goats milk for the pups and it worked out pretty well.

if your worried about maintaining the health and weight of the Puppy Puppy formula with a little caro syrup and condensed milk goes a long way....formula and karo do well to add to th puppy's intake, alternate between that and goats Milk and you should be fine, Its how I raised MANY a puppies.. also th big thing is to kep warm, a heating pad or a hot water bottle, a watch for a "ticking" to signify th Mothers heartbeat and a small stuffed animal for company....

I think it's ok but I have never used it. I always use a puppy formula supplement that can be purchase in any good pet store.
You friend has a really big job ahead of him. The newborn pup should be feed ever 2 to 3 hours, kept warm and clean. If any problems arrise then tell him to tke the pup to a differnt vet. That one sounds like a nut!

Yes it is goats milk for the puppy...

AND of course the vet says *you tell me*!!! Your animal can't.. so he has to have something to go on in order to help you out...

How early do you get up in the morning?

goats milk should be ok. but i would alternate that with some orphan puppy milk that you buy at a local pet shop. also, is she planning on keeping the puppy? please make sre if nt it finds a good home, or no kill shelter. if she takes it to a pound it will be killed. it needs to be fed every 2 hours.please email me asap about this, i work for a rescue if u need help. luvspets@aol.com

"MY husky dog was not producing enough milk for her pups and ended up not being able to feed them. I was terribly scared about their health and the vet advised me to buy his puppy milk BUT that was not enough to bring them back to health at all. They became terribly sick with diarrhea and got skinny; BUT when I bought this goat's milk it did wonders for them!..."

Read the reviews in the source. :)
