I have three dogs, a 2 year old male kelpie, a 1 and a half year old female border collie, and a 5 month old male red aussie cattle dog, my kelpie has established that he is the alpha dog when it comes to him and the border collie, then about 2 months ago we bought our cattle dog home, he stayed inside for a while because he was too little to stay outside, he was inside for about 3 weeks and then we put him outside with the other 2, we keep our two older dogs on one side of the backyard and our puppy on the other, they are divided by a gate that they can see each other through, every time i open the gate and the three dogs are together, my puppy just wont leave my other two dogs alone....he nips their necks, gets under their feet and just basically annoys them non stop, i can never break it up, and my other two dogs get very frustrated and growl and bite, i really dont know what to do cos wen i interfere my puppy bites me too and growls as well!! Its really upsetting! What do i do??!

A few days ago he stopped eating & barely moved. I tried baby food and using a dropper to feed him water + chicken broth but he wouldn't eat. So I brought him to the vet the night before he died and the vet said his kidneys are shutting down and only had a few days at most to live. I was so sad and cried. We were going to put him to sleep but the vet said he wasn't in pain but just tired and it was okay for us to take him home for one more night. We had scheduled to get him euthanized the next morning. He was still alive when I woke up at 6am but around 8am he stopped moving. His eyes were closed and his mouth was a little opened. I hope he wasn't in pain when he took his last breath. Does anyone know if it's common for the mouth to be just slighly opened? I feel so terrible if he was choking.

Well my girlfriends dog is about 5-6 years old. He is a golden retriever and he has aged quite quickly. Well to get to the point we moved in and he was just fine living indoors as well as with my dog. For about the past month or so we noticed he has more accidents int he house. He also is urinating and drinking it as he urinates. We noticed easily his urine has a very very strong odor which can spell up the entire apartment when he does have an accident. We take him outside every 1.5 to 2 hrs and he goes and it is very strong and he takes forever and it is very dark in color. Also he wont be peeing at all and will still stand there and resist us trying to get him to come in as if he were urinating. If anyone could help please do!

I've seen a few people refer to them as that, how come?
It's obvious being that they are toy dogs, that will be the most likely place they will go for, but are these dogs aggressive in that way, or is this the way they defend their owners and themselves? I love these dogs, they are so adorable and fluffy.. Also if you can provide any more information about them, that will be nice...Thanx in advance

I'm getting a Dalmatian puppy in a few months and I am planning to feed her a mainly raw food diet due to their health problems. I was told that I should also feed some dry food so I am looking for a top quality dog food.

I fed my other Dalmatian Pedigree all her life and she was in excellent condition until the day she passed away. I am told that Pedigree is no long a good brand of dog food.

I'm not sure if I should get Innova or not. Is it a good quality dog food or is there something better that I can find in a PET STORE (or vet office) in AUSTRALIA - not online or in USA/UK etc.

It's very expensive ($80 for 15 - 20kg - around 30 - 40lb) so I don't want to pay so much for something that is poor in quality.

Are they a bit bigger than chihuahua's? I just want to adopt a baby/young rat terrier, and know he'll stay small enough to carry under my arm, and put cute fashionable clothes on, and possible get a cute purse carrier for...lol (really...) I have a larger breed dog also, who is really good with all types of dogs, but a chihuahua (getting maybe 7 lbs) is probaly a bit too small for my 3 yo.

Anyone own one? How small is he/she? Is there something around the home you could describe to me the size of one?

She is 9 months old and can have pups now. Her and my male dog have got "stuck together" 3 times already that I know of. She is getting a little bit fatter and her belly is a little bigger but not alot. It hasnt been that long since they were together. Her mammary glands are getting bigger. What are the signs i should look for to tell if she is? Thanks for all your help.

I want to bring my dog with me from thailand to the uk when i return home later this year, she is a 4 month old chiouwa/minature german pincher mix that i rescued from the street about 3 months ago, when i found her she had no hair, an injured leg and was quite badly treated from what i could see.
now she is a lively little thing with a silky coat, healed to perfection and looking like a crufts dog :-)

Anyway, im very attatched to her and i really cant leave her behind, that would be unfair to her and me as she is a big part of my life, i looked on DEFRA and PETS but theres no answers to how i can do this, She has had her Rabies jab and her Quantum Dog DA2PPvL/(+CV) The main vaccination required for protection against hep/flu/adenovirus etc.

If anyone out there has done this before, or bought a dog to the uk from a non eu country your help will be appreciated, i understand she will have to go in quarantine, but i really cant leave her behind.

Thanks people

My dog just got skunked. I bathed her with dish soap and peroxide however I have no baking soda. It's 11:30pm here, I can't drive because of the medicine I took tonight, and no one else is around or awake to loan me or buy me some baking soda.

Any ideas as to how I can rid her of the smell without baking soda? I will bathe her again tomorrow after I can go to the store but in the meantime I can only use so much febreeze with my animals in the house.

Leaving her outside is NOT an option, she is a Lab mix with short hair, it's too cold (she's an indoor dog) and besides, that's where she found the damn skunk...

Any ideas would be appreciated. Please don't say tomato juice, I don't have any and it doesn't work anyways.

Thanks.

We have a 6 month old lab. My husband would like to get another dog & I dont want another lab. At least not right now, I would like to wait until ours is at least a year. But if we do end up getting another dog soon, I would like a smaller dog. Somewhere in the beagle size range or smaller. But the dog would need to be able to handle playing with a bigger dog. Do you have any suggestions as to which breed is a good match to play with our lab?

He is 8 weeks. Vomiting occures after eating, not drinking for about a week now. Vomit is only the food consumed. After he vomits he eats it and it stays down. He does not have diarrhea and plays great. He has lost weight. I have tried changing his food today, to a natural balance for puppies. Any help would be great.

I noticed an advertisement on Myspace today that said something like 80% of kangaroo dogs are dying too young. I don't want to click on it for fear of being phished. What the heck is it?

A dog on the street, with no tags or identification came up to my 15 week old puppy and started to trample all over it, biting it everywhere and almost tearing the poor thing apart from his uncut overgrown nails. The dog was pretty agressive and I did the most unusual thing in the world. I realized it must be lost, and as soon as I thought that he went on the road and was alomst killed by a truck that was passing by, luckily i was there to save him. Odd though it does seem the dog whose breed looks to me like a presa canario, looked pretty lost, so I brought him to my house it was pretty hard brining two dogs, i weighing like 150 pounds or so, about half a mile home walking, with one leash and constant barking and the dog trying to get at my puppy. What should i do about the dog? If i turn it over to the SPCA they might kill him in a couple of days if his owners don't use that as the first place to look, and my puppy was bleeding at the end when we came home? Can i press charges after
