Well my girlfriends dog is about 5-6 years old. He is a golden retriever and he has aged quite quickly. Well to get to the point we moved in and he was just fine living indoors as well as with my dog. For about the past month or so we noticed he has more accidents int he house. He also is urinating and drinking it as he urinates. We noticed easily his urine has a very very strong odor which can spell up the entire apartment when he does have an accident. We take him outside every 1.5 to 2 hrs and he goes and it is very strong and he takes forever and it is very dark in color. Also he wont be peeing at all and will still stand there and resist us trying to get him to come in as if he were urinating. If anyone could help please do!

It sounds like a classic case of a urinary/bladder infection. It is really painful for the dog. He will need to go to the vet ASAP for antibiotics (the meds are pretty cheap). After he gets the meds, he should begin to feel better within a couple of days, but he will need to continue to take the antibiotics for up to 2 weeks or so to completely kill the infection.

I would recommend taking your dog to the vet. It is the best solution. He could have a bladder infection, and if so it seems very severe. Your dog can die from a bad bladder infection if you do not take your dog to the vet fast. Also he could have a enlarged prostate and that could be causing him problems. In that case he may be in pain and he may even have cancer. So I will say again take him to the vet as soon as you can. It will be worth it. Explain what is happening with your dog. My dog was like this and he had an enlarged prostate. Good Luck.

sounds like an infection....for my dog to get a clean sample we laid a trash bag down on his bed in his crate....when he urinated we poured the sample into a bottle and took it to the vet. you should do this asap...before his kidneys shut down!!!! which is pretty quick in a dog.
