My dog is a 2 year-old terrier and has always been a hyper little guy. I know it is in his breed to be so active, but as much activity as I give him never seems to calm him down when he sees other people. Can I give him some chamomile, or is that cruel and unhealthy? What can I do for the certain occasions when I NEED him to calm down?

We contacted three different "DOBERMAN RESCUES" who profess to be "desparate" to find good homes for their so-called abandoned dogs. After four e-mails to each and several voice mails left on their phones over a period of two months, we gave up. We didn't think much of it until while just shopping in a historic little village with our own Doberman, we ran across other dog lovers who, after a little conversation, told us they too experienced the same exact thing as we had. They left many messages and sent e-mails (two were to the same as we had contacted and three in other states) but never got any answer. One lady said, "I believe there is a BIG scam going on with these rescues because their very elaborate web sites focus more on the "DONATIONS DESPARATELY NEEDED AND APPRECIATED IF YOU CAN'T ADOPT!" She "has heard" that some even post photos of their own dogs! If this is REALLY happening, 20/20 or Dateline needs to do an EXPOSE on it! Interested in helping get their attention?

I have a 12 month old GSMD. I have been getting mixed reviews on the type of food (Puppy/Adult) and amounts of food to be giving him. I would appreciate any suggestions you have on Giant Breeds and their nutritional needs and cautions. Does anyone else have a GSMD and if so, what have you fed yours in the past and what results have you received? Thanks!

I saw this as question open for voting on, but not answering. That's because all the answers were wrong!

An F1 Cockapoo is a cross between a Poodle and a Cocker Spaniel. The resulting personality is unparalleled in its ability to relate to people and children. They are famous for being loyal, affectionate, open and friendly, eager to please, easily trained and they don't shed.

Purebreds and inbreeds often carry genetic disease. Heterosis is the phenomenon where crossing two inbred lines can produce descendants with superior genetic foundation. This goal in this scenario is not to create a new breed, but to create a happy and healthy pet. You lose this benefit when you inbreed cockapoos(F2).
So the question is not what would they look like, but would they be healthy? Do you have an F2? Is it healthy?

In my opinion, If you get a cockapoo, get an F1 Poodle-Spaniel mix. Go to a reputable breeder, choose your pup based on personality, looks etc.

Am I right?

I have a new puppy - my 3rd. The1st was trained with Monks of New Skete method - a black lab & WONDERFUL dog. The 2nd - a cocker spaniel - no real formal training just a real sweet & eager to please dog. This one is a Cavachon - cute as a button, very smart, some dominance issues. What training do you think is best & why?

I have two longhaired dachshunds from the same litter. They are two years old and were both fixed this week. The boy will not calm down. He doesn't want to eat, drink, and he won't shutup. He keeps crying and trying to lick and mount her. They have separate crates and are never out together if not in my sight. Is there anything I can do to calm him down??? He is driving me crazy

I have a 5 month old chihuahua and just this morning his tooth (one of the 'fangs') got caught in the stitching of the hem of my jeans and as he tried to move away it seems the very tip of it broke off. He doesnt appear to be in any pain or discomfort and it acting as normal but I can see the tip of the tooth is blunt.
He is due to lose these milk teeth in the next couple of months or so. Is it normal that the milk teeth can break like this? Should I be seeing a vet to have it pulled or am I best just to leave it as soon it will fall out and the adult tooth will come through?
Thanks in advance!

My 1 1/2 year old basset hound keeps throwing up, almost on a daily basis. It isn't food usually. Usually it is yellow foamy looking bile. She doesn't seem to be sick in any other way at all. She knows when it is coming and usually heads towards the door. After she throws up she acts fine like nothing was wrong. I might just have to take her to the vet, but I didn't know if there was something simple I could do. She chews up a lot of stuff like cardboard boxes and the carpet!!! The only reason I don't think that is the problem is because there is rarely anything in the vomit!! HELP PLEASE!!

I'd like to breed my dog but have never experienced canine pregnancy or birth. I want to be very prepared and would like to know if there are any websites that offer pictures and/or videos of an average dog birth. I'm a bit squeemish so I know the better informed I am then the better I'll be able to handle this. I love my doggie and want to help her (besides contacting her vet) Thanx in advance guys!!!

My dog is newly blind, and has been peeing EVERYWHERE in the house. He never had problems with this before, so I'm sure it has something to do with his new disability. He has a doggy door, and he usually goes outside to poo, so I just don't know what to think. Any information would be very helpful.

At least last May there were ton of worms in the dirt that we put in the cement hole. Do you think that the worms survived? I'm putting dog poop in the hole and I want it to decompose. How do I do that anyways?
