Now you want someone to tell you what is the most popular breed so that you can sell puppies, you are a real loser. We know that you have Cockers because just a week or so ago you were looking for a stud in Illinois. After the difficult time you had selling the last litter (that you advertised here on YA in every question you answered) why get more or breed more dogs. DOGS ARE NOT MONEY MAKING MACHINES get a job and do not get another dog.
Of course you do not want a dog from a shelter because they come already spayed or neutered, if you were just looking for a pet that would not matter.

-someone else said something about a mini doberman. There is no such breed.

-the most popular breed is probably a pit bull or a lab. I really don't reccomend you get a dog just because its popular, and I especially don't reccomend you get a pit bull. Don't get me wrong, I love the breed, but this does not sound like the breed for you.

- I also don't recommend you get a dog just because its cute and you can carry it around all day.

-Dobermans are only mean if they are not properly trained and socialized. And that goes for any breed.

"but i dont really want to go to the shelter because ive always wanted purebreed puppies to sell" - You don't even know what breed you want, but you want to be a breeder? This really concerns me.

I do not can't recommend any breed for you. You should really think about why you want a dog. Getting a dog just because its cute and so you can breed it are not good reasons.

Why don't you go to dog show and spend the whole day looking at the breeds? Than you will have a better idea what you really want. I will put a site in bellow so you can find a dog show near you. Also you have every right to want a pure bred dog of your choosing. A dog that has that special look to you will be forgiven when it has an accident or an upset stomach on your favorite furniture. A dog that has that special look to you will have the best home with you. So get the dog breed that appeals to YOU most.

Check out the King Cavalier Spaniel and Old English Spaniel, for a more petite (arm carring dog). Also check out the Mini Pincher or the Manchester Terrier.

Check out petfinder.com, you can find breed specific rescues if you want to go that route. Good luck finding your puppy.

Its best to spay or neuter your pet. There is a horrible problem with pet over population. Too many dogs and cats die each day.

Consider breeding only if you are well educated in genetics, and overal breed info. You should only breed to better the breed, not to make money.

You need to think about your lifestyle and how a dog will fit in to your life. If you are active, a larger, more energetic dog will suit you better - but can you affor to feed it. Small dogs are lovely, but is carrying it around your only reason for wanting a smaller dog - If you plan on jogging with your dog, a small dog might not be for you.

There is a web site that suggests dogs that suit your lifestyle http://www.petnet.com.au/selectadog.html

By the way, Doberman are not mean - people condition them to protect or guard, but if you are kind and nurturing, they can be as sweet and loveable as any dog.

Sounds like you are a first time dog shopper. Dogs are GREAT but you need to do a lot of reading before you get one. Find a book that helps you determine the basic type of dog that fits your lifestyle--active or a couch-potato. Also forget about breeding puppies since that is the reason we need people to go to shelters. And, do you realize how much money it takes to keep a dog healthy? I spend at least $500.00 a year and mine are in good health. Be really sure you are ready for all that it takes to be owned by a dog before you go and find the one who wants YOU for it's human. Good luck

Honestly, go to a shelter. Let a pup pick you out. In shelters you will find all kinds of amazing abandoned dogs that need homes. Plus , then you know they are vaccinated and altered. Your pup will be forever greatful to you for providing him with a loving home. Good luck and remember mutts need homes too and will be just as loving and wonderful as a "purebred"

I definitely, DEFINITELY recommend a Havanese pup! They are special bc they are DIFFERENT. The breed is getting more and more popular, but they still are a little rare. My little one is 5 months and he is SO smart...he was about 95% potty trained within 2 weeks of bringing him home (we brought him home at 10 weeks) and he has such a sweet and calm temperament. He has been an angel since we brought him home. He has hair, not fur...so he is hypo-allergenic and does NOT shed. There are mini-Havs around that you can carry around w/you, but the breed standard is 10-15 pounds, so when he/she is older he/she may get too heavy to carry...but they do have minis out there that are under 10 lbs. Look into it! My breeder is in CT and was AMAZING - you can find a ton of info on her website www.renaissancehavanese.com. Good luck!

I would recommend a West Highland White Terrier. Long name, for a small dog.
They are so pretty!
Don't get one from the shelter, get one from a reputable breeder. AND DO NOT BUY FROM THE PET STORE OR MALL. EVER!
Pets bought there usually have problems because they come from puppy/kitten mills. A puppy/kitten mill is where they just breed from profit, and they don't look at the well-being of the animals. :(
