Well I have a basset/boxer/shephard mix lol and he is a great guard dog. He scares me when he barks lol and the mail lady hates to come to our door and my dog is the sweetest dog but his bark is enough to give a person a heartattack.

I was told that Pittbulls usually attack other animals more than humans and are actually way to friendly to be a guard dog. The small/medium breeds bark more and will scare people more than a larger breed (according to It Takes a Theif)

I had a friend who had a rottweiler and it was a very nice dog. It was very gentle with the kids and would not have hurt a anything but I have been around many dogs and do know that some breeds tend to be more unpredictable then others. These two tend to have tendencies toward these behaviours pitpull more so then rottweilers. Choose wisely if you are looking into either of these pups.

the Rottie was not bred to be aggressive where originally the Pit Bull was. These days, both need to be raised in such a way to become aggressive. It is no longer true that a Pit Bull is aggressive just because it is a pit bull. The Rottie by nature is an oversized lovable playful dog. As for Guard dogs, the Rottie will bark generally at intruders and that is more than enough of a deterrent.

There is no such thing as a "dangerous" breed of dog. There are such thing as dangerous owners. Bad owners who can't be bothered to treat their dog properly. Then a dog ANY BREED becomes a nuisance and sometimes even a danger. Ignorant people are the danger! If a dog is socialized and trained properly, regardless of its breed. It will be a happy and well adjusted dog.

It depends on the owner and the type of training they give the dog. You can teach either breed to be aggressive. Dobermans were referred to as the dangerous breed at one time too.

You can teach any dog to be dangerous. even a small dog can inflict serious damage.

Sorry it the owners who teach the dogs to be dangerous not the breed of dog.
