I want to bring my dog with me from thailand to the uk when i return home later this year, she is a 4 month old chiouwa/minature german pincher mix that i rescued from the street about 3 months ago, when i found her she had no hair, an injured leg and was quite badly treated from what i could see.
now she is a lively little thing with a silky coat, healed to perfection and looking like a crufts dog :-)

Anyway, im very attatched to her and i really cant leave her behind, that would be unfair to her and me as she is a big part of my life, i looked on DEFRA and PETS but theres no answers to how i can do this, She has had her Rabies jab and her Quantum Dog DA2PPvL/(+CV) The main vaccination required for protection against hep/flu/adenovirus etc.

If anyone out there has done this before, or bought a dog to the uk from a non eu country your help will be appreciated, i understand she will have to go in quarantine, but i really cant leave her behind.

Thanks people

woah. I'm GOING to Thailand in June for 2 months and i KNOW i'll probably become attached to dogs there. When do you leave? Also, try contacting some of the dog rescue websites (I looked up a ton of dog rescue websites in case I wanted to stop by) -- they'll definitely be able to help you out since they adopt out dogs. I have an entire list of them so if you want I can email them to you. in fact I'm going to email you because i'm in the middle of planning my trip and i got sidetracked!!!

you do no longer say once you are going to stay in Thailand, or merely occurring holiday. This makes a huge distinction. you won't have the capacity to easily take a puppy there and back the way you presently can with Europe. touch the airline as we talk and ask for his or her suggestion, and likewise the Royal Thai Embassy in London. And as one respond mentioned, you ought to keep in mind that canines and cats returning to the united kingdom from Thailand nonetheless ought to do six months quarantine interior the united kingdom, so get each and all of the valid techniques from the united kingdom government FIRST. None of that's often arranged straight away, so start up gathering valid techniques as quickly as available.

Pets passport won't apply from Thailand so you are looking at six months quarantine.
Look on the DEFRA site and under quarantine there will be links to Kennels.
The kennels should be able to help you arrange everything.

She needs to be micro-chipped *before* her rabies vaccination. So, if she isn't chipped, it has to be repeated, and six months before you leave. I will post a site, so please check back in a few minutes
Here is the page you need, as Thailand is an unlisted country> http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/pets/procedures/support-info/otherinfo.htm
there are the forms to download and numbers to contact for more questions.
You might consider using a pet travel agent, such as this one> http://www.petmovers.com/?gclid=CKXa45uM54oCFSfSYAodKVX6kg
to help you make all arrangements, and make them properly.
